“Good aerial view from a safe platform”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

We chose this to see Angkor from the sky without risking our lives in a light aircraft. It is some distance from Angkor Wat so not for photography unless you have a super long lens. It is better than the regular hot air balloon as they don't fly over Angkor Wat at all. This is a hot air balloon that rises attached to a cable so felt very safe. They are meticulous about weather conditions so if it is windy they won't fly. The day we booked (at 5pm based on other reviews) it had not flown all day but started just before 5 so worth going even if you haven't seen it up in the air all day. We had booked but there was hardly anyone there (probably because of that fact). Takes about 10 mins. It can go up to 200m but only went to 72m for our flight because of weather. Apparently at this time of year it never really goes above 100m so we went for it anyway. Glad we did as it gives a great perspective of how big Angkor and surrounding moat is. Good views of whole area. Worth the $15 each but wouldn't have paid much more than that. Obviously would be much better at 200m but still glad we did it.

“Prepare for long wait unless pre-booked”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

We turned up without having pre-booked and had to settle in for a wait for over an hour. Don't expect to take great photos if you're here at the middle of the day as it gets very hazy.

“breathtakin view”

We paid $15 for half an hour and 300 mts high Ride to see all of Siem Reap. The trip is one hell of an experience , although pretty safe as the wires are all around ...
A must have if you want to see Angkor wat from the top...
Go during Sunrise or sunset time.
Good for Photography.

“Up Up and Away, maybe”

The hot air balloon is on a cable. You go up for about 10 minutes. The views are amazing. It is ideal for anyone who may be a bit hesitant about being up in a balloon at all. The only drawback is that if there is any wind blowing it won't lauch, so you may be sitting around for a while waiting for the wind to die down. We waited about an hour, while our driver waited for us.

“A different perspective of Angkor”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

We rode the balloon at about 4 pm after doing the small loop at the temple complex. There was no line up but THEY ONLY TAKE CASH - US $ or bhat welcome - unusual for a major tourist site.

They seem to take safely seriously as there was some wind so we were advised that height would be restricted to 88 meters. This was fine with me as the lower level still gave good pictures with much less haze than at the advertised maximum.

Best time to go is afternoon when the sun is behind the balloon and the yellow rays show less of the blue haze. If you want a sunset ride book in advance as this is the most popular time.

I thought the price of $15 was very reasonable as we got about 10 minutes at maximum elevation and it offered a bird's eye view of the area.In reality it is much more highly rated than listed as each temple gets it's own listing as a separate entity on tripadvisor.
