It's a nice place when you don't know what to do with the time in Siem Reap,or if you are interested in silk manufacturing.I like there, I've learnt a lot, as a free attraction I consider it as a worth-visiting.

This was an interesting place to go and see the artisans at work on traditional Khmer arts and crafts. The produced goods were a little pricey in the gift shop which put us off shopping there.

As a person who loves arts and crafts and the creative side of life, it was a real treat to visit Artisans d'Angkor and meet the people whose efforts go into making such beautiful things.

We were given a free tour by a nice young man whose English was very good. He took us around each of the workshops, explaining how it functions and what each person does. We saw silk-painting, wood-carving, metal work, even quality control, amongst other things.

As we wandered and saw each person so engrossed and hard at work, it made me a little emotional to think that they have been given this opportunity to learn for free, and to make genuine Cambodian art for a good living. You can tell how much effort goes into each piece, which was why we were happy to buy in the shop at the end. There's no pressure to buy anything (the guides do not accompany you in) but there are plenty of helpful staff members to assist if you need help choosing. I could have bought one of everything...

An absolute highlight of our time in the city, this trip will be good for your soul.

A terrific program aimed at training locals in the original skills of their forefathers and giving them a career skill to help steer them out of poverty. They encourage many disabled students as well.

We visited two separate locations. The first is in town and features all types of traditional arts and crafts--silk painting, silver plating, wood and stone carving among others. I love that this co-op hires and trains people with disabilities, allowing them to earn a living through art. The second location is a little bit out of town, but well worth a visit. There, you can see silk production from the worms chomping through piles of mulberry leaves to the final woven product. You will see the cocoons, how the silk is spun from the cocoons, dyeing, spinning, and weaving. In the beautiful (air-conditioned) shop, you can purchase beautiful silk scarves or even an entire silk suit. Guides are on hand to explain every step and answer questions. This was a highlight and must not be missed!
