One of the things we liked best about our visit to the Angkor area in Cambodia was our tour guide Mr. Yous Sopanha. Mr. Sopanha was an absolutely wonderful guide during our recent two day tours of the Angkor area and its' temples. He holds a degree in history from Phnom Penh University and really brings the ruins to life. He also has a very compelling personal story, having survived the Khmer Rouge era in Cambodia.

Mr. Sopanha ensured that our group was informed, entertained, and hydrated, an important feature in the Cambodian heat. We toured Banteay Srei, Ta Prohm, Angkor Thom, Bayon and Angkor Wat as well as taking a boat trip to visit a floating village near Tonle Sap Lake. He also took us to visit the landmine museum in Siem Reap where I was moved to tears, realizing the horrific effects these devices have had on the local population.

Mr Sopanha will take care of you very well on your tours of the area and is also available for tours of other parts of Cambodia, i.e. Phnom Penh. We were only there for a couple of days but when we go back will be sure to book Mr. Sopanha as our guide.

When touring Angkor area temples, wear comfortable walking shoes, women should have clothing covering your knees and shoulders if you plan to climb the high temple at Angkor Wat, cameras, a bandana or small towel to wet and cool yourself comes in handy too.

Please contact Mr. Sopanha on Facebook if you wish to book his services.

Me and my wife visited Siem Reap in August 2010 with Bunleat as our guide. Bunleat is an excellent professional guide that has a level of knowledge from a lot of study and research that he has done on his own.

During our 4 days stay, Bunleat was very flexible to accommodate us with a customized tour package with specific destinations and activities. His English is excellent and with a great passion of what he is doing. As our guide made the trip enjoyable, fun and memorable.

Siem Reap is a great place, without a good guide it is just like seeing a pile of rocks or ruins without knowing what happen in the past. We highly recommend Bunleat as your guide!

Angkor Wat / Siem Reap Tour / Travel advice.

Leap Lam was the best and most cost effective arrangement I could have made when touring Angkor Wat and Cambodia.

Disclaimer: I am usual an adventure traveller and I travel on my own.
Advice: Get a GUIDE and use LEAP.

Worried about the expense? ---Leap paid for himself by securing a good cheap hotel for me, Cheap Tuk Tuk ground transportation, and providing water through my tour days. Those things alone paid for his fee.

Why need a guide? ---The temples complexes are indeed complex. Without a guide, I wouldn't know where to get tickets, then where to start, what was important to see, what could be skipped... without a guide I would have wasted 3 days wandering aimlessly.

Why Leap? ---Leap made my trip spectacular form the beginning. From the creature comforts or pre-arranging a great cheap hotel, meeting me at ground transportation, planning our days to include great local food and furnishing ice cold water through out the day, Leap could not have made the trip better.

Why Leap over other guides? ---Leap has love, passion and joy of his heritage and for guiding you through his home country! A tired, boring, passionless guide can ruin a trip. I have had guide's before who are tired of the information and have no joy in guiding. Leap loves guiding, is proud of his heritage, culture and is extremely knowledgeable. His english is great and even his jokes are fun if you have concerns about language. His enthusiasm and energy set a pace that is infectious, exciting and that maximizes your time, without wearing you out.

You will see more Cambodia with Leap! ---You will get VIP service as Leap takes you door to door to door to door, from hotels to temples. You come out of a temple and a driver has the engine running and is waiting for you. You don't walk across parking lots, you don't have to find parking. Leap shields you from overbearing vendors and sales people and helps you negotiate fair prices for purchases.

Other good references for Leap. ---I have since recommended Leap Lam to 3 other friends ( 1 Swede, 1 American, 1 Brit) who have all had as good an experience with Leap as I have.

Leap Lam is a TRUE professional guide that has passion for Cambodia, Siem Reap, Angkor Wat and the life and culture that he introduces you to.

I usually avoid getting a guide, but I would say absolutely get a guide and only use Leap in Cambodia. Your trip will fall short with anyone else!

We visited Siem Reap July 22-26 2010 with Horng Bunleat as our guide. Bunleat is an excellent professional guide and driver, although he is much more. He is an authority on the area, the history and people. He’s achieved a level of knowledge from a lot of study and research on the tour subjects and he continues to extend his knowledge. Having been a teacher, he has the talent to pass on his knowledge in a very warm and interesting fashion.

We appreciated that Bunleat was very flexible to accommodate us with a customized tour package with specific destinations and activities. And during our 3 days of touring he was willing to make changes based on weather and additional requests.

We visited the temples of Angkor Complex and several other temple ruins in the area. We went to the Koulem Mountain to see the Grand Reclining Buddha and the Big Waterfall. Swimming at the falls was very enjoyable. A good journey through the countryside to see the stilted houses of Kampong Khleang and a boat ride on Tonle Sap Lake. At every stop Bunleat was very considerate of our needs, providing water, cool towels, assistance swimming and climbing on the ruins.

His English is excellent and he has a wonderful honest personality. We enjoyed conversing with him on a variety of topics covering history, current affairs, society, daily life and travel. He knows the best spots for taking photos, has good suggestions for poses and took several great photos of us.

Cambodia is a great destination with wonderful people and amazing sights. Having Bunleat as our guide made the trip exceptionally enjoyable, fun and memorable. We highly recommend Bunleat!

Angkor Wat was a fantastic experience. Beautiful scenery and interesting history. It is certainly worth visiting. 2-3 days is an ideal time frame for AngKor Wat. One should try to take the speedboat through the floating villages to experience the life of the Cambodians,

I recommend Bunleat as the tour guide if you would like to visit Angkor Wat one day. Have a look at his website. http://www.tourangkorwat.com

One of my friend contacted him 3 days before our trip and he replied the emails promptly, assisting us in planning our itinerary for ang kor wat. He is able to articulate the history in a clear and concise manner with good english. A caring and sincere guy who constantly make sure that we are comfortable by providing us with water and cold towels. He is flexible and is able to change the schedule to fit into our preference.

He never fails to bring us to all the good and cheap food places. That includes nice restaurants and the small shops where the locals always visit. One of our favourite dish is Amok (Cambodian Curry, good with fish). Remember to ask him to bring you to the nice hotpot place. You have to try this grilled garlic oysters/shellfish. Is really nice!

Bunleat always amuse us with his strong sense of humor. He will share with us about his life and experience in cambodia during the long journey in the car, bringing laughter and joy to our exciting trip. He brought us to visit his wife and cute daughter, experiencing the local life.

Thanks Bunleat for the awesome journey in Angkor Wat!
