Location Location Location. You drive from the airport past the ugly tour group hotels getting closer to the centre of town, and you keep going - one small block back from the river and two small blocks back from the Alley. No issues with noise (low season). We had 2 rooms on Level 2 next to each other. Probably a bit quieter, but the rooms on the pool deck (Lvl 3) and above (Lvl 4) look great with city views). Pool is stunning. Staff were friendly and effective. Included breakfast and restaurant staff - great. The quaint "traditional" room decorations were a real hit with our kids. Their own temple, bridge and Lilly pond in their room. Only negative was one Lvl 2 room had a bit of a musty smell. Put the kids in there - problem solved.

We chose this hotel having been attracted by the reviews and the pictures of the rooms shown on the hotel website, nothing to do with the reality. The Khmer style rooms (we have changed room after the first night) were much smaller, with old furniture and, most important, very dark and with a bad smell coming from the straw covering the ceeiling.
In spite of that, that resulted in an uncomfortable stay, the hotel has a beautiful pool on the roof and a very good restaurant. My suggestion however is to go to some other place to sleep, anyway.

The staff could not have been more helpful especially the concierges. We stayed for two nights.
The rooms and housekeeping excellent. The breakfasts offered more choices than most of the other 5 star hotels we had stayed at. The pool area was so beautiful. We would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Stayed here for 5 nights primarily for visiting the Angkor temples. This hotel looked quirky and had many good reviews and as people who like something different we decided to book a room. We were not disappointed. The hotel building is in an excellent location being literally a couple of minutes from the night market, pub street and the alley. So all you shopping, eating and drinking needs are on your door step.

The hotel building has the air of an old colonial structure with the lovely khmer design features added. The bedrooms are large and very nice with the unique bathroom feature being like a Bayon temple in your room. The shower experience was something different in a good way. The rooms were very clean and there was an outdoor balcony also.

All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful from the excellent Chanty on reception, to the waiting staff and the chaps at the pool bar on the room who mix up a mean mojito for happy hour ($2 for cocktails!!! get in!!).

The rooftop pool area is a very welcome addition after a morning and afternoon of sightseeing temples in the sticky heat, a dip in the pool provides welcome relief and is one of the reason we chose this hotel.

The hotel food was very good also. Breakfast was a choice of Khmer, American and Continental and each choice was very nice. We had a late lunch there one day also and this too was excellent.

An excellent hotel and if I return to Siem Reap I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on floors 2 and 3

My boyfriend and I were on a month-long trip in Southeast Asia and arrived in Siem Reap in the evening from Vietnam. We had pre-booked a different hotel (the River Village Manor) due to its high ratings on trip advisor, but unfortunately, upon arrival we knew right away that the River Village Manor was not for us.

We walked around town the next day determined to find a different place to base ourselves when we found Terrasse Des Elephants & immediately fell in love with its charm, ambiance and central location. This very stylish but unpretentious hotel is exceptionally clean, safe, had comfortable beddings, and the bathroom area had fantastic design. Bathroom amenities were fantastic-smelling, and big plus on their efforts to be sustainable with the beautiful refillable lotion & shampoo bottles. The rooftop pool was wide & sparkling clean, plenty of towels were available, and their on-site restaurant had good local food. We have already recommended this hotel to friends and other travelers that may find themselves in Siem Reap…love this place, and hope to be back again someday! Thank you for the hospitality!

I have now stayed in this hotel four times, and each time I have had the most wonderful experience. This hotel is the height of luxury, but still retains a unique Cambodian ambiance. I love the fact that each rooms is different, with it's own special features, the rooms I have stayed in have included: a jacuzzi bath; an outside patio with table and chairs; and a moat, with a bridge from the door to the bed! Each room has an open-plan bathroom, and a fountain - shaped as one of the Angkorian Bayon heads, and filled with water lilies. The rooms are large and kitted it out with everything you would want, and the beds are HUGE and very comfortable. The cocktail happy hour is well worth taking advantage of, and as we stayed in low season, we enjoyed not only an inclusive breakfast (either from the buffet in the restaurant, or brought to you in your room), but also a three course dinner every single night! There was a choice of Western or Khmer food, and everything was absolutely delicious. One of the best things about this hotel has to be the massive rooftop pool. The trees in the rooftop garden are hung with bells and wind-chimes, which just creates the most wonderful, relaxing atmosphere, the large sunbeds lie waiting for you wish fresh towels each morning, and there is a bar by the pool, from where you can order food and drinks. However, the best thing about this place has to be the staff - they are so very, very nice. They remember my name and greet me like an old friend every time I go back, on my birthday they surprised me with a cake with my name iced on top, they have a welcome drink ready for you on arrival, they carry your bags up to your room, they recommend places to go and arrange trips for you - I really could not fault the service here. I love this hotel, and next time I am in Siem Reap I will most definitely be staying here.

Room Tip: Different prices have different facilities - jacuzzi bath was in the deluxe, patio was in the superi...
