“Skip this place!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2013

This is by far the worst restaurant we have been to in a loooong time anywhere!

We went here on the recommendation of our Tuk Tuk driver.

First of all, our waiter was NOT interested in being there. He barely paid attention to us as we gave our orders; constantly looking away at something in the distance and barely responding to questions (and I was speaking Khmer to him!).

We ordered two appetizers first - and were quite specific that we wanted them first. We even went so far as to place the appetizers right away while we continued to look at the menu for the mains. The waiter indicated that he understood that we wanted them first...guess what came out first instead? Yep. Our mains!

That in itself wouldn't be so bad if that was all the happened. Unfortunately it wasn't.

When our main came out, one dish was correct. The second dish wasn't what we ordered at all so we sent it back. That caused the manager to come storming over to our table and ask us what was wrong. We told him we didn't order it, so he went to the poor bus boy who brought us the food and started screaming at him and then looking at us and pointing at us.

And finally...the food itself was just horrible. They didn't get a single item correct. We had ordered 'Amok' and it came out as a really light green curry. Their Stuffed Squid with spicy Khmer herbs turned out to be sliced pieces of squid covered in mayonnaise! Picture potato salad with squid instead of potato. Just gross!

We would give this place -5 if we could go negative. Since we can't they are lucky they ended with a '1'.

“Was good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013 via mobile

Like many other reviewers, we were brought there by our tuk tuk driver. We had amok fish, morning glory vegetables, noodle soup with vegetables, and koh ker fish. Everything was well prepared, tasty, fresh ans simple. Much better than in other places we had been in Siem Reap. We will go again if are back.

“It is absolutely possible to be this bad!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

The other reviewers that gave this restaurant a good rating must have gone to a different restaurant. Our tuk tuk driver said to come here after we couldn't get into Sugar Plum (right down from the road). It's on a busy street, lots of available tables and angry looking wait staffs, that should have been our sign to move on, but we were hungry.

I didn't think it was possible, because we have had very good dining experience here in Siem Reap, but we just a singularly worse dining experience anywhere in all my eating out experience. The grill catfish I ordered, was deep fried until it was crunchy inside and it smelled, which means it's been dead for a while. Most of the dishes were not Cambodian, but more like Cambodian rendition of Western, Chinese, Thai etc, and they did none of it well. My kids' beef dishes were chewy and loaded with butter, bad sign, that's one trick to hide old beef. I found Cambodians to be all smiles and very friendly, well, we found the angry ones in this restaurants and they gave their smiles to someone else. The list goes on, and on.

If by chance you have come this deep into the ranking to find a restaurant, for the sake of your love ones or your stomach, don't eat at this restaurant, they will both hate you for it.

“Great restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

This restaurant is around the corner from the Somadevi – our hotel – but is tucked away so we didn’t find it by chance. A tuk-tuk driver dropped us off there after visiting other points of interest. We had lunch there and returned by foot the following night for dinner. The fans are turned on as soon as you choose your table. Loved it. Food was awesomely good, and atmosphere lovely. Service with a smile (always in Cambodia), and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I am adding this paragraph to all of my reviews: To all those travellers and holiday-makers who are too rude or too stupid to acknowledge hospitality staff (or any goods or service provider) with a smile, or by simply saying please or thank you, please stay home in future. You embarrass not only yourself, but the nation from which you come and all of us who are near you at the time. I am insulted by your ignorance.

“Very tasty food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

We discovered this restaurant by chance. The tuk tuk driver took us there for lunch. We did not expect much about the quality of food; so we ordered simple dishes like a Tom Yam soup and mango salad. We liked the taste of food so much that we went the same restaurant the next day. We tried amok in Coconut shell and frog leg this time. We got very much satisfied with the taste again. The prices a little bit higher ( about 5.5 USd per dish) compared to many other restaurants, but it is worthy.
