“A hotel with good sleeping..”
Reviewed December 27, 2010

Just leaving shadow of Ankgor II after Christmas spent here and at Ankgor Wat. Fantastic hotel with a lovely pool. Really important to cool down after a long hot day spent under the sun. Rooms are great, aircon great and balcony a real plus. Quiet sleeping is easy with great soundproofing in the rooms. Friendly staff and service. $25 is more than we usually pay but it was money well spent for Christmas and very reasonable considering the quality of the place. Location is 5 minutes from the centre of town.

Shadow of Angkor II was the perfect hotel for us while in Siem Reap to visit the temples. About a 5 minute walk to the busier side of town, this hotel is elegant, clean and comfortable with a friendly and helpful staff. There is A/C, hot water and our room (#103) had a balcony and more than enough floor space for our two backpacks. There is also a shaded pool right outside the dining area.

The hotel also arranged for a Tuk-Tuk driver for us for the three full days we were there to visit the temples of Angkor Wat. We were charged $15 for the first day (our driver drove us around for 11 hours!), $15 for the second day (8 hours with our driver) and $30 the third day (8 hours but we drove twice as many miles to the outer temples).

Breakfast wasn't included in the $22.50 we paid a night, but was available every morning for about $6/person and was very good: choice of eggs, bread, coffee, etc. Massages are also available in your room. You just ask at the desk, they make a phone call and someone arrives about 10 minutes later. My wife had an hour long body massage for $5!

We loved staying here and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Cheaper than other hotels in the area and better quality - this hotel made our stay in Siem Reap. We specifically went aournd different hotels of similar quality to find the best deal. Angkor II had very clean, nice smelling rooms, with a balcony and a swimming pool. The best value for money. If you want to save a little, have your meals and drinks elsewhere, as they are pretty expensive at the hotel. Lots of neat dining places in the area though.

Was there last year in September. Booked the $25 Double Room for 3 nights. Shower was great and the room air-conditioned was working perfectly. Just what i need after a long temple burnout in the day time. Overall service was good and the receptionist was helpful too in helping me to book my bus ticket to Phnom Penh and also calling me to inform me of my girlfriend arrival.

I had originally booked a $20 room for 7 nights via their email, but was informed when I arrived that there was only the $25 rooms available. I was slightly irritated at the added costs, but was not in the mood to argue after a long bus ride to Siem Reap.
The room was quite nice, with TV, air-con, hot water and a shower screen (a luxury in asia). But my wife and I were placed in a room with 2 single beds instead of a double (as we had booked). And for $25 a night you could usually expect breakfast to be included in the price, which it wasn't.
The place looked relatively new, which made it surprising that they didn't have a generator to counteract the daily power cuts which lasted for hours. My wife had food poisoning for one of the days we were here and it was horrible for her to lie in a room with no lights or air conditioning for 4 hours.
It wasn't too bad of a stay, but for the price I'm sure we could have gotten a nicer hotel in the centre of town, instead of a 15 minute walk away.
