A great little cafe that trains young people and helps them to make a better life for themselves. A lot of good choices for dessert and meals at good prices.

I absolutely can't understand most of the bad reviews - why would you rate a place 2/5 just because it is a café and not a restaurant?? Tripadvisor doesn't distinguish between these categories and the Common Grounds itself doesn't claim to be a restaurant ...

The place is located a little bit north of the pub street area, still comfortably in walking distance. It's a rather calm spot with lots of expats reading newspaper or working there which we found to be a quite nice alternative to the crowded main tourist area.
The pastry is absolutely amazing! We really love cakes & co and came across a lot of average and even bad "western" places in SE asia, but this is definitely one of the best. Everything we tried turned out to be really tasty, our favorite being the molten lava cake (get it with whip cream). We also had some savory dishes for lunch which we can highly recommend as well. Same goes for the frappes and all coffee creations we had.
Wifi's free and fast, you can plug in your laptop at almost every table and the staff is both quick and lovely.
If all that is not enough, the café is part of a humanitarian organisation allowing socially disadvantaged Cambodians to access education they wouldn't be able to afford otherwise. Despite that the prices are still quite reasonable.

common grounds is a nice cafe' in a quiet location, good place to sit and check your emails as there is free wifi. staff is really friendly too and the whole project is for a good cause, which is fantastic.

i had some cookies there which were fine, but the food and the coffee is rather tasteless. ok, for the food it might be the vegetarian option, which maybe is not their cup of tea, but i found the coffee rather bad too. i think that should/could be improved!

Thank you for joining us at Common Grounds. With a variety of different cultures and coffee tastes, we strive to bring the best western style coffees to each table. From Europe, Australia, America, and other Asian countries, we have chosen the best balance between the differing taste buds that come into Common Grounds. Additionally, our drip coffee which I believe you may have purchased, is right in the middle: not too strong, and not too weak.

Since you are from Vietnam and enjoy a stronger coffee drink, I'd recommend either our espresso line up or our Flat White Coffee which is our double shot espresso with micro-frothed milk cream. It is our strongest coffee drink at Common Grounds!

We appreciate your feedback, and hope you come back to try one of our stronger coffee drinks that may suit your tastes better.

If you're missing America, this is your spot! It's run by an American family (who volunteer their time, knowledge, and resources) to support a local school/orphanage place. I know a few of the people that volunteer there. It's a legitimate cafe. They pay their staff fair wages, and they offer something valuable to the community. That says alot in Siem Reap.
The food isn't my grandma's cookin', but is pretty, darn close!
