I absolutely can't understand most of the bad reviews - why would you rate a place 2/5 just because it is a café and not a restaurant?? Tripadvisor doesn't distinguish between these categories and the Common Grounds itself doesn't claim to be a restaurant ...
The place is located a little bit north of the pub street area, still comfortably in walking distance. It's a rather calm spot with lots of expats reading newspaper or working there which we found to be a quite nice alternative to the crowded main tourist area.
The pastry is absolutely amazing! We really love cakes & co and came across a lot of average and even bad "western" places in SE asia, but this is definitely one of the best. Everything we tried turned out to be really tasty, our favorite being the molten lava cake (get it with whip cream). We also had some savory dishes for lunch which we can highly recommend as well. Same goes for the frappes and all coffee creations we had.
Wifi's free and fast, you can plug in your laptop at almost every table and the staff is both quick and lovely.
If all that is not enough, the café is part of a humanitarian organisation allowing socially disadvantaged Cambodians to access education they wouldn't be able to afford otherwise. Despite that the prices are still quite reasonable.
