We spent 4weeks here whilst volunteering in siem reap. Fr the price, it was very good. Large rooms and huge beds, clean and comfortable. Decent breakfast as well which was always ready really fast. Mr bun kao and family will sort you out with any questions, bike rental etc. location is on a road with loads of other guesthouses, about 15 minute walk away from night market area.

Didn't try the food so can't comment on that, it doesn't get a 5as the aircon couldn't cope with the heat during march, can't. Imagine the heat in April, and the power went out on a regular basis with no backup generator. This turned the room into a sweat box!

Would highly recommend bun kao to anyone wanting an affordable comfortable stay.

Myself and my friend stayed at Bun Kao Guesthouse for 2 nights and had such a good stay. The beds were comfortable and our room was clean and very good for the money. However none of this compared to the amazing staff that work here. They instantly made us feel at home and were extremely helpful when booking our tuk tuk tour around Ankor Wat and our bus to Phenom Penn. Although the guesthouse is slightly off the main drag, it only cost $2 to get to the night market/pub street. After the hectic atmosphere of Siem Reap we were more than happy with the quiet and comfortable location.

We chose this out of a travel guide and landed on our feet. The guesthouse is down a dirt track which also has a few guesthouses and restaurants there. The room was large with a huge double bed, you get clean towels, bathroom with hit shower, a fan and touthbrushes, combs etc in the bathroom.

The WiFi worked well in the room and lobby, there is also movie channels on the TV and a computer in the lobby.

We only bought breakfast in the hotel and that was nice and a good price. There is a nice place called the two dragons at the end of the road and I would recommend that to eat too.

The staff are very friendly and we booked our tours through them with no problems.

We arrived by tuk tuk down a dirt track and wasn't to sure what was going on but once we got to our guesthouse the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean had a tv and a massive bed and I mean massive I could sleep on one side and fully stretch out and still not touch my partner! The breakfast was very good and the family that lived there were very nice. One of the younger staff did quote us $40 for 4 people to go round Angkor wat which if you haven't been to Angkor wat is very expensive, we asked a tuk tuk how much and we got it for $18 for all 4 of us so shop about and don't take their word for granted! All in all the rooms are very clean and comfortable the staff are very helpful and the family that live there are very nice. Breakfast was included in our rooms and was lovely. The older gentleman that owns it is lovely, such a smiley nice man. We would definitely stay there again.

Nice place to stay in Siem Reap.

Pros:
- Good location, north side of town so easy to visit temples, and a 15 min walk to Pub St area along a busy road, so fine to walk around after dark
- very friendly staff, able to organise all transport and trips at a reasonable price
- large bedroom and hot shower, with toiletries
- can rent bikes or arrange tuk tuks easily
- free pick up from the bus station if you use there tuk tuk for temples. We biked 2 days and took a tuk tuk one day, which was $35 for far out temples and $25 for the closest ones. We also booked an onward tuk tuk to the airport, which was $6

Cons:
- towels were a little musty and were only changed after 4 nights (we stayed 5), plus we ran out of soap in the bathroom and this wasn't replaced so I had to ask for more at reception
- food was ok but we had a bug crawling on one of our drinks. We ate out most nights at other restaurants close by; there are lots of good choices . Breakfast was an omelette (very nice) with baguette
- there was no water coming out of our shower / tap on two evenings, but other than that it was fine so it didn't interrupt showers in the morning or in the afternoon. The shower was nice and hot.

Tip: each floor has a balcony with hammocks and a seating area, which is good to relax. However the end rooms, which we were in, have a window directly onto here so we heard a little noise. It didn't bother us though, and we just kept the curtain closed the whole time so no one could see in if they were sat right outside
