Beautiful hotel and friendly, helpful staff. The architecture and furnishings of this property are meticulously designed. The outdoor pool is great for cooling off in the Cambodian heat. Food at the hotel restaurant is excellent and there is a wide selection of local and western fare. Highly recommend this hotel.

I didn't see the good things other travelers say about it. It's in the middle of nowhere. Yes the resort offers free tuk tuk ride to the town and even a local cellphone for your convenience, the ride itself can be long and full of air pollution.

When our driver dropped up off at the resort, nobody was there to welcome us. In fact, since their front gate was not on the main road, we had a difficult time finding it. It was when we found the doorway and pulled our baggages did someone finally show up in surprise. So really awful first impression.

There were probably just no more than 10 rooms occupied, which gave the already small resort a sad atmosphere. The room itself was actually cool with Cambodian style. But in this modern world we can't survive without enough sockets to charge our phones. When I called and someone came in our room, she could only locate one that was under the desk. Although they gave us an ancient and unsafe-looking power panel to solve the issue, it still annoyed me. And I found a second one BEHIND MY BED. We also found the window towards the hallway a little bit unthoughtful and some not-so-obvious stains on the sheets irritating. But by that time I just felt disappointed and unnecessary to communicate with the resort staff.

There were too many geckos and spiders all over the resort ground at night. We also spotted some red ants. So personally I don't want to explore the pool area or stroll around the resort.

The morning before we checked out we asked for a tuk tuk to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat. I felt they wanted to rip us off. Eventually we paid our lovely car driver $25 for a round trip to Angkor Wat and transportation to the airport. Compared to the $22 price tag the resort offered, it was a bargain and a much more comfortable choice for us.

Breakfast was delicious and had very generous portion. That was almost the only thing we liked about the resort. It was my first time and probably the last time I chose Anantara.

Do yourself a huge favor and stay at other hotels. Le Meridien is cheaper. Sofitel is bigger. Park Hyatt is much more beautiful. Just saying.

Dear Exzx,

Thank you for your feedback about our hotel and please accept our apologies if we failed to meet your expectations during your recent one night stay.

Indeed the hotel offers a boutique hotel experience with personalized services focusing on Cambodian culture and charm, in contrast to the larger more generic style hotels mentioned.

You will be pleased to know we have recently added a charging and media hub to our guest writing desks and thank you for your positive comments about the hotels quality of food and restaurants.

Best regards,

We were 2 couples travelling, and it was low season. We decided to spoil ourselves and stay at Anantara, and had no regrets. Personalized service from our arrival to our departure. The front desk personnel were always helpful and friendly and the Operations Manager was always at hand to ensure we had a pleasant stay. The rooms were roomy and very comfortable, and it was very nice to sit out at our small balcony which overlooked the swimming pool. The toilet is in it's own private room, and there's a separate shower and a bathtub. Wifi and breakfast was included in our rates. Being low season, there was no buffet, but there were set breakfast menus as well as a very small selection of ala carte dishes. The portions were always very generous and I could never finish mine. The food served was good. Welcome drinks are served upon checkin. Fruit basket in the room is replenished daily. You can use the hotel tuk-tuk once a day (return trip) which was appreciated, as the hotel is about 15-20 min from town by car. The front desk will provide a local handphone for us to use, so that we can contact the hotel for our pickup when we were in town or in a restaurant for dinner. Upon discovering that we were there to celebrate our friend's birthday, the Operations Manager offered us a very good discount for the birthday boy and his wife, which was happily taken up. I used the spa facilities and enjoyed myself (jacuzzi, steam and dry sauna). We had lunch in the hotel on the day of our friend's birthday, and the front desk organised a free birthday cake! We were delighted, and the cake was delicious! Great resort to stay in, very relaxing and great service.

A brief stay reminds me that this is the best boutique hotel that I know anywhere in the world. Impeccable service makes every visit perfect.
Thailand prides itself with the title of land of smiles, but that simply is not true. Cambodia is the land of genuine smiles.
Just left, can't wait to return!
