This is a nice, small hotel with nice landscape and a great pool. The staff was friendly, helpful and would fulfill you requests even if they had to consult another staff member. The tuk-tuk drivers they provided were outstanding; honest, friendly and fun! The room was nice, but the bed was very firm. The shower was awkward because there was a built in bench right below the shower head. The location was about a 10 minute walk to all the restaurants and shops. It was kind of a dark street, but seemed safe to walk anytime (if in doubt, take a tuk-tuk into town). Lastly, as a younger traveler, this hotel seems to attract an older crowd of travelers (if that matters to you).

First and by far the best place we've stayed in Cambodia. Start your trip here and you basically can't go wrong. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The garden is realy nice, as is the pool area (though the pool was rather warm and salty ... if that bothers you). Fantastic breakfast, you can pretty much get whatever you want.

Room Tip: I don't think there's actually bad rooms available here. Ours was a bit more in the back and...

I loved Sonalong when I was there 2 years ago and my recent visit has not changed that. The beautiful gardens are growning into a small tropical forrest complete with sweet smelling flowers and orchids; there are now family suites also available and I noticed that Mr Hak has added a bar poolside. This is the place to return to after a hot and dusty day at the Temples! As usual Mr Hak arranged a perfect itinerary and tuk tuk driver for our Temple tours and we managed to miss most of the tour groups each day.

What a fantastic place. Location is ideal 10 min stroll into "town" but several restaurants and little shops within 5 minutes. Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful gardens and lovely pool (I swam laps everyday with no problem). the pool area is just lovely and relaxing. Great little bar with cocktails. Delicious fresh and plentiful breakfasts. Spacious room, with tea and coffee, lovely verandah overlooking the garden. Above all really lovely staff- without exception helpful humble and happy smiling faces. (and many of them are studying as well as working 9 hour days 7 days a week). These young folks are truly inspiring. Anyone who cannot see that, well I would say the issue is their own and not the staff. They are a reall credit to the hotel and the country. We would not hesitate to come back again.

We were recommended Sonalong from a friend who lives in Phnom Penh and we were not disappointed. From the time that we arrived, Mr Hak the Manager made sure that we would remember our trip to Siem Reap. For a few extra dollars he offered a second adjoining room for our two girls to have their own room. The adjoining rooms were to the rear of the property and very quiet and private. The rooms were very large and provided the opportunity for us to all spread out. The breakfast are made to order and we all loved the Cambodian Noodle Soup. Mr Hak organised two tours for us at very competative rates to see the temples and also a day trip to Tonle Sap to see the floating fishing village and the village of Kompong Khleang. At the end of the day, the pool provided a great escape from the heat and it was always perfectly clean. Mr Hak and his staff will ensure that you have a wonderful stay at Sonalong and we recommend this boutique accommodation when visiting Siem Reap.

We are just back of a wondfull journey. Sonalong with his friendly owner and staff is a hotel that we can recommend for everyone. We stayed there for 3 night. The hotelowner helped us to see the local live around Siem Reap. I am a photographer and travel with my wife and a 4 year old boy. Thanks to the connection of Mister Hak we saw the realy and not touristic life. There is a lot more than Angkor Wat; a must is: Beng Mealea (Indiana Jones-feeling of the lonelyness and the real live of the Ton Le Sap lake near Kampong Khleang. Thank you very much and hope to see you a next time.

My husband and I together with friends stay at Sonalong Village regularly. We have just returned from a three week visit. Sonalong is an oasis of peace in a very busy town. The rooms are great with the added advantage of an outside verandah complete with fan. We started as we usually do by going and eating in Eat Street and one or two of the other recommended restaurants around the Wat Bo area. The food menu when you first look at it seems limited, we were able to choose different dishes on a regular basis and foung that the quality of the food was axcellent and that it was lovely to finish the day with a very good meel in peaceful surroundings. Well done Chhay Hak , you have created a little gem. The feeling he has created is of an oasis in a crowded city. Birds are prolific, including a resident owl and for those who are interested in the trees, each one has been labelled. These include banana, palms, mangoes ,papaya as well as some of the tropical trees familiar to Australians. An added incentive is the ten minute walk to the Old Markets and an even shorter one to the Night Markets We were pleased to see that the shower had been updated since last year. The staff as usual are helpful and friendly, many anxious to practice their English. We are already checking our dates for next year as Sonalong is often fully booked
