“great place to stay and return !!”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

I am just back from Sonalong Boutique Village. It is really cosy, boutique place surrounded with gardens - nice atmosphere !!

Location is not that in the centre; actually in walking distance (10-15 mins) but local taxi is more recommended in night time. Room is moderated size with a nice balcony. Staff are very friendly and service-minded.

Overall, great place to stay and return !!

Stayed for 6 days & hotel and staff were great.
They arranged several trips for us (quads = bit expensive but worthwhile / mountain bikes = expensive but your saw loads more / Tuk Tuk to floating village = very good).
Pool bar just being built as we left which'll make it even better.
Definitately worth staying.

We were recommended by friends to stay with Mr Hak at Sonnalong Village and were very happy we did. Mr Hak made us feel very at home and was very attentive to our needs during our stay. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable and the pool great for our 2 children ages 9 and 11. It was great having the undercover pergolas around the pool when it rained so we didn’t have move elsewhere. The breakfasts were very generous and the staff friendly. We enjoyed staying the 5, 10 mins walk out of the city as we got a better feel for the area on our walks into the restaurant area, it was also good to be a bit away from the super touristy busy streets.

We were recommended this Village by the place we stayed at in Phnom Penh, Eureka Villas - and were so happy with it's location, pool and services of the staff.

Nothing was too much trouble, they helped us with tours and organised a great Tuk Tuk driver too.

Room was very clean, comfortable and had a nice little balcony were we could sit at night. We'd definitely come back. Thank you.

Stayed 7 days and enjoyed the surrounds, staff very friendly and helpful. Close to the action easily walkable or Tuktuk for $1. Very cheap for food, travel and shopping. Worth taking American d0llars as they are accepted everywhere and the local currency will fill your bag. Everything negotiable so barter away. I found the locals very friendly and gentle people.

There are a whole lot of places in Siem Reap to choose from. This one is fine as a mid priced, boutique hotel. It was clean, quiet, and friendly. Rooms are big, somewhat simple. However at the price it is a value. The pool is really nice. Breakfast is included in the rate. Personally I would pass and have a better breakfast somewhere else. There was nothing wrong with my breakfast, it is just boring and there are better places to go and have it. If they offer transport to and from the airport do not take a tuk tuk. It is much to hot and dusty. The hotel's owner lives on site, this is a real plus. He runs a tight ship. Do ask him about where to go and what to see. The hotel is more than OK to help make dinner bookings for you. I will be back.

Room Tip: Ask what is the quietest. I had 107, it was good. They have a nice pool

Beautiful gardens. Nice pool. Simple, but quite clean, spacious and comfortable enough rooms. Too simple bathroom. Cozy, relaxing atmosphere.
Breakfast is boring if you stay more than one (max 2 nights): omelet or pancake, toast, tea/coffee, small plate of fruits, juice (not fresh). The same for each and every morning.
Very uncomfortable pillows - we were borrowing pillows from the pool beads for the night.
Staff is attentive but not pushing.
Not in the shopping, dinning or entertainment area. But tuk-tuks are cheap and always available, if you are too lazy to walk.
Overall we were satisfied with the hotel. We even liked it, but I am not sure that I would like to come back.

We have ordered private sightseeing tours from the hotel in advance. Definitely cheap, but comfortable, with a nice driver and a nice guide. We have seen a lot of local life (go for really local markets, look at a life in local villages), the most important monuments of Angkor Wat, Kbal Spean, Phnom Kulen Waterfalls (recommend), Banteay Srey (I liked it a lot), Floating Village (must, but choose not to touristy), Beng Malea (just OK, it was too dray to get impression of the temple in the jungles).
We went on our own to the local souvenir markets. Best I have ever seen. Seems like all people in Cambodia are artisans. Artisans Center is OK to have excursion, but it is better to buy souvenirs and silk scarfs in the night markets, silk dress in the airport (perfect quality, good price), some interesting things could be found in the boutiques in the city center.
