This is one of the many floating villages around Seam Reap. A thousand families live here, 40% of them are Vietnamese.
It is around the Sap lake which gets water from the Mekong River. It joins the river near Phnom Penh. During monsoon the lake covers 12000 sq kms area and is 9mtrs deep and once the water dries up the lake covers only 250 sq km with 1 meter water.
It is a self sufficient lake village with schools, hospital and church. Due to the presence of Vietnamese, there is also a Catholic Church.
Crocodile farm is an attraction for us. The tour will take you to a floating shop which has a crocodile farm where you can shop as well. The prices are exorbitant so don’t bother shopping.
