“Great Value for Money!”
Reviewed December 6, 2009

I loved this place!

Warned against sleazy guesthouses that cheat (or worse) tourists, I was very cautious when I researched on accommodation in Siem Reap. Not wanting to spend on the 5star hotels along the stretch, we picked out Rosy Guest House run by some Australians. Everyone spoke English, albeit simple English for some. But the place was clean, cozy and certainly felt very safe.

As we had crossed the border from Thailand to Siem Reap then, we met some backpackers on the way who were looking for accommodation so they followed us to Rosy and they loved it too. :)

Of course it's not your 5star hotel with perks and all. But for 25USD a night, you get a roomy (larger than some I've had) double bed room with an attached bathroom. It's also air conditioned, with a wardrobe and all. I believe the prices are still pretty much the same. If you're travelling on a budget, you can opt for the smaller ones with shared bathrooms.

There's internet in the guesthouse. When I was there, you could use internet in the common areas. There's television, a pool table and a great bar. Some rooms have balconies for relaxing at night. The staff were polite and very careful when they cleaned our rooms. Everyone was friendly so that really made it enjoyable.

Would definitely stay here again, the staff were ever so helpful and this allowed us to do so many things during such a short stay in Siem Reap. Furthermore, we ate here on more than one occasion as the food was tremendous.

After a nightmare bus journey from Thailand, where they tried every scam in the book on us, we eventually arrived at Rosy GH exhausted but with our wallets in tact. The greeting we received was warm and friendly and 5 mins later when we were sat with a warm drink listening to Donald Bird on the stereo, I knew we'd stumbled on a great guest house.

The rooms were clean, staff helpful and friendly, food choice and quality was good, and the atmosphere generally relaxed. It all ran like you'd imagine your own guest house would if you were there to take pride and pleasure in it yourself, which the owners here are.

The Rosy guesthouse is a fantastic place to stay. Situated in a nice quiet area of Siem Reap where I felt very safe and was not more than 5 minutes from bar street by tuk tuk. The owners (an English couple) and staff are extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. The guesthouse itself has a relaxed atmosphere with bar, restaurant and lounge area with satelite tv, pool table, a nintendo wii and a collection of books and travel guides which you are welcome to use. They also help to arrange transport via tuk tuk to the angkor temples. The driver they recommended was fantastic, very helpful. He brought a cooler with water (which he provided) at no extra charge and was advising us on what prices we should be paying for things so we would not get ripped off when going around the temples. The room we stayed in was a double room with fan, satelite tv and shared bathroom. This is a fairly small room but very clean (cleaned every day) as are the shared bathrooms which are checked multiple times throughout the day to ensure they are kept clean. I did see one of the larger double rooms with air con which are still
reasonably priced and they looked fantastic but being on a budget we were happy with the room we had. Food you can choose from a wide selection western and asian, we sampled both and both were equally good. I must also mention how honest and trustworthy the staff are as when we left for Phomn Penh I left my purse on the table but realised when we got to the bus it took us 15 minutes to get back and it was behind the bar with the staff all cards and money still in place. I was so grateful to them.
Cannot fault this guesthouse would recommend.

Rooms: Average, Food: Average, Price: Average, Location: Average

Good selection of DVDs available in the lobby with DVD player in the room. Wifi is satellite so very poor speed. Breakfast is not included and the food at the restaurant cannot compete with the other choices in Siem Reap. Location is a short tuktuk drive to the central market area and bar street.

I chose Rosy Guesthouse 2 yrs ago and it was a pleasant stay there. The 3-bed room is neat and clean. Bed and showers may not be impressive but they are decent and in good working condition. Staff are friendly too. Breakfast is average but downtown (pub street and old market) are within 15mins walking distance. I just returned from my 2nd trip to Siem Reap and engaged in the same Rosy tuk tuk driver, Seila, whom my sis and I befriended during our stay 2 yrs ago. He's friendly, reliable and charges reasonably. If you'll like to hire him in your next visit, he can be contacted via email: (--). Overall a pleasant stay for a budget trip.
