“A Fun Night Out”

Very similar to the old market in what is for sale and on offer, still can get bargains and good fun to be out at night with all the atmosphere and the street food coming into its own. Worth a visit.

“Good Place to spend an evening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014

There are many night markets in Siem Reap but I find the Angkor Night Market quite interesting. Firstly, it is tuck away from the main road and you have to walk in to the place and once you're there, its a different atmosphere. Importantly, relatively safe
Lots of arts and local handicraft plus clothing including the local dresses and shirts. Another chance for you to practise your bargaining power and offer a lot lower than what they would ask for.
Manage to get myself some pants and shirts at bargain prices, a few USD !!! After all the walking you can either get a drink or dinner within the night market and its quite a comfy atmosphere
However I prefer the restaurants next to the market where the food is delicious and cheap.

“Interesting”

If you have a free few hours than give it a trie.
You can also buy a drink overthere in some fancy nice pubs.
Good materials for good price. Negociate always. Usualy you can buy 2 for the price they are asking for 1. Just offer a 50% smaller price and turn your back. They will take it.

“Nice enough..”

People expect too much from these markets. They want to see 500 stalls with little boutiques selling handcrafts and unique things, for next to nothing. You can get it here, but the markets off Pub street and night markets are full of the same stuff you would see in Thailand, Hong Kong, Laos, Vietnam etc. T shirts, pictures, metal jewellary, scarfs and table cloths etc. All this stuff is made in China and Bangladesh etc and come here in huge shipping containers and given to traders to flog.

There is some lovely stuff. I have a $30 dollar rule, anything under $30 is perceived value to me, and I am happy for the trader to get a win because I am happy to pay for it. I cant be bothered to haggle, il set a price i'm happy in my head to pay and then ill buy it or walk away, usually buying it quickly.

We got

1. Beautiful large blue tablecloth made of cotton and silk (prob not much silk) paid $29 for it, could have got it cheaper but was worth it to us

2. Massive oil painting of Angkor Wat. SO these paintings get sent on mass with the sketches already on the canvass, and then the locals just paint by numbers with oils. Dont matter they still look lovely and bet no one on your street will have one on their wall. paid $35 for it, was really happy with it

Other than that, usual postcards, got night massage, had a beer and whats more right next to ABABA curry house, which does outstanding curry.

“Good for some fun, souveniers and massage”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

Ok, its like many others in SE Asia, but its got some different things as well.
Theres the fott massage places where you watch a doco on Angkor Wat. Thees the few handicraft outlets. Theres some good food outlets tucked away, and also a Blue Pumpkin Ice cream outlet as well.
The foot massages are usually owned by the same person.

As god as anywhere and makes for an enjoyable walk post dinner
