Stayed here for 3 nights on the recommendation of the lonely planet...BIG MISTAKE. The rooms were beyond basic, the rooms were filthy the bed sheets and towels were stained. The complex including the bedrooms were infested with flies and frogs...We used their laundry service and our clothes were given back to us wet.Contrary to the guide book the place is not ran by Norwegians it is ran by Cambodians. They organise tours and bus tickets....SCAM..we booked a VIP bus to phonm penh which we were told would be used by only backpackers would have ac and toilet.we paid 11USD.we ended up on a wreck of a bus full of locals that stopped in every lay by along the way. We were the only foreigners. No toilet no ac but there was karaoke...Please don't stay
at earthwalkers there is much
better to be found.we paid 22Usd per night which was to include breakfast...which consisted of 2 warm slices of bread(supposed to be toast) and tea or coffee.... which were accompanied by a family of flies....

We had read that this was a very nice place a bit away from the center with a nice pool to refresh from a long day in the Angkor temples.
The place was nice, but the prices were a bit higher that we expected (their prices don't include VAT!!). Also the room was very nice, but at very early in the morning there is a wood factory just on the other side of the wall that starts really early making impossible to sleep after 6h30.
Also , because is fare away from everything, all they have is very expensive. And because you don't have any other place to buy it, you have no chance.
Anyway, the pool is really nice, but deffinitively there must be other "cheap"places in Seam Reap where you can find a quite place with pool.

This is one of the best valued back-packer hotel. The location is not far away from the city, and you can go around by the rented bike with cheap price.
The hotel has a unique foot-shaped swimming pool. A veranda nearby to relax and chat and read books and have a drink.. The bar serves nice juice.
The room itself is very nice. we took a twin-bed room, it was nice and clean and tidy. The staffs were very friendly, we chat and they spoke good english..

Earthwalkers is not run by norwegians with focus on the local society. The review in Lonely Planet as ”our pick” is written when this place was run by norwegians. It is not anymore.

When I booked my trip to Cambodia, I planned to stay in Earthwalkers because of good reviews in papers and in Lonely Planet. . I e-mailed with the norwegian manager at that time, and I got a lot of ideas for my stay in Siem Reap.Just before I arrived, there was some disagreements about some of the owners and the running of the hotel, and norwegian management had to leave Earthwalkers.
The pool is nice, the food was good, but the location was not good at all. And after two days the new management started to argue and yell in the relaxationarea. As a guest it was not nice at all! I had to find a new place.
If you want to stay at a place in Siem Reap who is serious about responsible tourism, do not stay at Earthwalkers. As a norwegian I would much more recommend either Soria Moria Hotel, or the nice guesthouse European. Because both places have norwegian management that is serious about responsible tourism. I came back to Cambodia in 2009, and will come back as often as possible. And I will NOT stay at Earthwalkers.

We don`t know why this hostel is recommended by the Lonely Planet, even as a "pick". Indeed the pool is nice and relaxing after a day in Angkor, the staff which is not at all Norwegian is friendly (but slow) but it is not very clean and outside the city. We saw a lot of cockroaches there, even in our room. As mentioned before the online booking is not working. Drinks and food are quite expensive and also slow. All togehter it is overpriced for the value.

I only stayed one night out of 3 at the sub-standard establishment and booked another hotel nearby to avoid staying here.
The shower did not drain which is terrible after a long day's travel! The room was (to be kind) nothing special and the sheets were stained. I am thankful for bringing my own mosquito coils too! The rooms were bad, but the hotel's 'restaurant' was no better. In the morning, I had to wait about 45 minutes after ordering french toast to receive it, while three other orders came out before mine.
Worst of all, we organised a tour through the hotel. Big mistake to do anything through this hotel! Our guide was useless and basically left us to explore the temples on our own. This same tour guide warned us of going outside the hotel to look for tours because of 'scams' and offered to take us to the floating markets for US$15, with no commission. (We organised a tour of Angkor Wat and other temples on site and the tour guide there said he could take us to the markets for US$10 per person)
To top it off, Earthwalkers' staff + tour guide organised a bus to take us (a group of 13) to Poipet. On the day, a half-full mini-bus arrived, which did not even have enough room for our luggage. The hotel staff convinced us to board this bus saying there had been a mistake and that they would arrange a bigger bus to take us there from the nearby depot. A few in our group said they would therefore meet us at the depot and get there by tuk tuk because there just was not enough room to travel comfortably. The staff insisted however, and we all got on. Once on board, all our luggage was loaded down the aisle, so no one could get on or off, and we were taken all the way to Poipet (about a 3 hour journey). No one was impressed.
If you are considering staying at this hotel, I urge you to please look elsewhere! (We stayed at a 4-star hotel about 500m away it was fantastic and inexpensive!) There are far better places to stay that will actually be worth your money and allow you to actually enjoy your stay in Cambodia.

We came here during our 1-year world trip by car and where happy to be able to park the car safely. The rooms look beautiful and there's lots of space outside to hang around (the pool, the bar, the lounge chairs). You can use the free wifi almost everywhere (we had a good signal in our room as well as in the public area). The food is good. We never attended breakfast, but I believe it's quite basic. But we always ordered other stuff and that tasted great. Friendly staff. Quite many (young) NGO'ers stay there also.
