The immense East Baray (lake), which surrounds East Mebon was built about
half a century before the temple, from Yasovarman I. This was necessary for
securing the water supply to his new city, Yasodharapura. the basin
measured 7.5 km to 1,830 meters. Built by King Architect
"Kavindrarimathana" (in fact the only Khmer architect whose name has come
down to us), the temple of sanctified in Rajendresvara 953 Friday, January 28,
at about 11.00 in the morning. Large-size sculptures of elephants
welcome visitors to the sides of the second level.
