“Incredible carvings”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

The most detailed carvings are to be found on the pink sandstone encased temple. It has been roped off to protect the carvings, which makes it feel more distant and not as up close and personal as it was in earlier years, but still a marvel to behold. Smaller and easy to navigate, but a bit of a drive from Siem Reap and most of the Angkor complex but worth it if you have time, which you should make for this awesome place.

“Restored”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

This place was a welcomed visit, a restored temple and barely a crowd. We would certainly recommend this temple.

“Enchanting...”
Reviewed November 28, 2012

This is near Banteay Srei. Less crowd but a must see temple list in siem reap. Carvings are also amazing. Easy to take photos since not much crowd here.

“Great Temple without the Crowds”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

Banteay Samre was one of my favorite temples visited during my tour of the Angkor Temples. The temple itself is amazing in terms of carvings and detail, but what made it different from the other temples was the somewhat remote location. Whereas most of the other temples had swarms of visitors, Banteay Samre was relatively deserted when we visited. It really gave that sense of discovery that we search for. Also allowed for some great photographs without having to wait for other people to move out of the way. One of the better temples to visit among the Angkor complex.

“one of the favourites”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

This temple is close to Siem Reap, but just off the Grand Circuit making it less popular with the crowds which is perhaps one of its best features.
It has been restored to very good condition, is easy to navigate and has lots of interesting 'nooks & crannies' (excuse the technical talk here). There are some great carvings and towers in a similar style to those at Angkor Wat.
We visited early afternoon and despite being a very hot & humid day it seemed to have lots of cool spots to escape the sun. All of these things would put it in my top 3 of about 15 temples that I visited.
