Pavillon d'Orient Boutique-Hotel
Ranked #31 of 378 Hotels in Siem Reap
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 28, 2014

I stayed at the Pavillon d'Orient in December 2013. The hotel is really good and clean, the restaurant is excellent and the employees are friendly and welcoming.
The most convenient service offered by the hotel (included in the price of the room) is the tuk tuk that you can use during the stay. My driver (Davuth) was very kind and helpful: not only did he bring me around the temples but he also brought me to the town, the market and the museum.
The hotel also arranged a private guide for me for a very reasonable price. My guide was outstanding, he knew the history of the temples on the back of his hand, he was patient and caring.
Overall I would greatly recommend Pavillon d'Orient, my trip to Siem Reap was fantastic thanks to them.

We absolutely loved staying at this hotel. Everyone was extremely friendly, service was outstanding. We would definitely stay here again and will do so one day. We loved how they included our own tuk tuk driver, English speaking tour guide, and breakfast, even a surpirse departure gift! Great service and thank you to everyone at the Pavillon.

Room Tip: We stayed in a corner 2 bedroom villa, on the second floor. No elevator but did not need it.

What an amazing hotel!!! We stayed for our anniversary and had an amazing time. The pools are lovely and the staff are amazing. Could not recommend it more. Fantastic hotel!

The hotel is slightly out of town but you have a personalised tuk tuk driver who is with you for the stay. Ours was Vesna and he was incredible, even had cold water and an esky for us! Great restaurant and feel.

We stayed here for five nights based on the Trip adviser reviews and the fact that the price included your own Tuk Tuk driver. This was a real bonus with our driver Bintang taking us to some remote spots on some pretty rough tracks and always on hand to help. Our room was a little tired but clean and functional; the breakfast was good and offered something for every taste, along with a warm welcome from the staff every morning. The hotel organised a guide for a couple of days for us who was very knowledgeable and informative with excellent English. Don’t come expecting five star as it isn’t, it’s a boutique hotel and you’re paying boutique hotel prices. The only negative was we lost power five or six times on our first night which meant we had to manually re start the air conditioning throughout the night. It only occurred on that first night and we would definitely stay here again.

This boutique hotel on the outskirts of Siem Reap is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and the other temples in the area. The staff at the Pavillon d'Orient are exceptional. Not only are they very efficient and professional but they are so welcoming, warm and helpful that we immediately felt at home. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and well air conditioned. A fruit basket greeted us on arrival in each of our rooms. The wifi is reliable. The two salt water swimming pools surrounded by foliage were a blessing in the heat.

The all day breakfasts were great. We also ate two lunches and a dinner at the hotel. The food was simple but perfectly prepared.

Although the hotel is located on the outskirts of Siem Reap it was perfect for us as it was very quiet and closer to the temples that we had journeyed to the area to see. After a full day of sightseeing in the heat we did not feel the urge to visit downtown Siem Reap in the evening.

This is not a luxurious resort hotel but it is a wonderful boutique hotel and we loved it. We would not hesitate to return if we ever find ourselves in Siem Reap in the future. Highly recommended!!

We just returned from an 8 night stay in Siem Reap at the Pavillon d'Orient hotel. We are a family of 6 (with four young children) and it is not easy to find hotels that can accommodate us comfortably. This was perfect. The family suite was really well designed and just the right standard for us. The staff at the hotel were all incredibly friendly and helpful and the pools and restaurant were terrific. The hotel is a little bit out of the main part of town, but the room rate includes the services of a tuk-tuk driver (and breakfast, and a basket of fruit every day, and a bottle of wine, and copious bottles of water etc etc) so we never found the location a problem. Indeed it was great to stay in a more local area of town. The hotel is en route to Angkor Wat, and is walking distance from the local markets, which are fascinating. I definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again for sure.

We have been so pleased with our stay so wanted to make sure we left a review on tripadvisor before returning to busy lives back home -- we are still at this lovely hotel on the last night of our 4d3n stay. The service is unparalleled; we were greeted with smiles from the second our driver (arranged by the hotel free of charge) met us at the airport. Upon check-in, again more smiles and we received notes on visiting the temples (ticket prices for Angkor National Park, cost(s) to hire a privates guide, etc), weather forecast for our stay, local customs/useful Khmer phrase and even a book on Angkor temples. Once in the room, we noticed a restaurant recommendation list, bedtime story on the bed (different one each night) and a fruit basket plus a cutting knife and plates.

Room rates offered by the hotels in Siem Reap commonly include a private tuk tuk driver. This is super convenient because it eliminates the need to haggle with and explain the hotel's location to drivers for each ride. That said, I am pretty sure not all drivers are as nice and hospitable as our driver Mr. Moy. I am also certain that other hotels can also arrange private tour guides for their guests. Our local tour guide Vanny, also arranged by Pavillon d'Orient, spoke excellent English and was extremely knowledgeable about the temples, history of Cambodia, Hindu mythology and religions over the past two days we spent with him. When touring various temples, we noticed several other private tour guides who were not energetic or informative at all. Meanwhile, we learned so much with Vanny, and it was so apparent that he is genuinely passionate about his country and the history and future of the temples.

The hotel's standard items on our checklist were also nice - good location, bottled water, clean rooms, well maintained pools, good a/c, delicious/ generous portion of breakfast (offered through 10pm at night to accommodate guests who may wish to leave early for the temple visit and miss the typical breakfast hour). Wifi is everywhere on the premise but a bit slower than Hong Kong. Location is close enough to the Angkor National Park but not in the middle of noisy, hectic downtown.

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Siem Reap.

PS weather the past few days has been quite pleasant. Occasional downpours lasted 10-20 mins and actually cleared the air. Temples also look nice with some vegetation and water in the moats. Tuk tuks are well equipped to transport during the rain.
