“the BEST Hotel”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

My husband and I stayed here during our Cambodia/Thailand honeymoon and we still to this day say it was the best hotel we have stayed at. It may not be the most luxurious hotel, but the grounds are beautiful, rooms are beautifully decorated, clean and spacious. The hotel staff is amazing and the breakfast was delicious, super fresh, and the best we have had at any hotel.

We hired an English-speaking guide to the temples and it was the best decision. We had our own tuk-tuk driver and he was the nicest and most humble person.

Don't think about it, book this place!!!!!

This is a lovely, relaxing, hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff. The level of comfort and attention to detail is excellent for a mid range, reasonably priced, hotel. The fact that you are allocated your own tuk tuk driver (who was really helpful) is a bonus and takes the hassle out of seeing the sights (including 5am sunrise at Angkor Wat) and evening trips into the town.

Value for money and great service!......Quiet retreat not too far away from the city centre. Free tuktuks and top up a bit for a car upgrade. Loved the small details like the free Cambodian bedtime story, the very refreshing lemongrass tea.

The rooms at this property are rather tired, but saved from mediocrity by some deft reminders of colonial days, and the balconies which provide much needed extra space.
However the staff here are warm, friendly and treat you as one of the family - absolutely brilliant!
The tuk-tuk driver provided is a clever touch that minimalises the impediment of the distance from Siem Riep.
Breakfast by the fish pond is a big plus, and can be eaten at any time of day, another smart move. All in all, a memorable visit

This is great value for money considering the service and little touches they provide

Nice laid back atmosphere, supremely helpful staff and free tuk-tuks between 5am to 10pm make this a really nice place to stay.

This hotel has just 19 rooms but is aiming high with all the perfect details you might expect of a very high end hotel. Lovely cool lemongrass tea on arrival, free bottle of red wine and a bowl of fruit in the room. Free tuk tuk every day from dawn ‘til 10pm, a guide book to the Angkor Wat on loan and Cambodian bed time story scroll to make sure you fall asleep happy. There is a lovely little pool with great outside ‘beds’ for relaxing. The onsite spa treats you to a free 30 minute khmer massage, hoping to tempt you into relaxing even more with another (I would have but they were booked up quite a bit). The all day breakfast means you can go do the temples at dawn and come back for breakfast. Even the plug sockets are all setup with international adapters.

Our tuk tuk driver (Vesna) was simply wonderful (you have the same driver for your whole stay). Conscientious, careful, helpful and always looking to make our trip that little bit better. Having a tuk tuk on hand all the time was a blessing, especially when they have an ice box with chilled water readily available! The drivers chosen are clearly excellent, with good English, and selected based on previous customer feedback.

The restaurant's food was delicious and good value. The menu was strangely ordered and could have been a bit more extensive but we found ourselves eating there more than we normally do in hotels. We especially recommend the shrimp salad and the spicy salad. Fresh lime juice served with sugar syrup to add to liking was delicious and refreshing, as were the juices and cocktails. Also the pancakes are pretty scrummy.

The staff are all smiles and helpful hoping they can do something to make your experience even better. They organised a guide for us very late at night for the next day, not short of a miracle really. The free tuk tuk expands as far as Banteay Srei which we would definitely recommend and we especially enjoyed the ride out there.

Simply wonderful, this hotel made our trip to Angkor Wat a stress free delight.

The hotel was all and more than what the reviews written here have said. Everything was perfectly as I had imagined it to be, and some even pleasantly exceeded my imagination - like the free massage, excellent breakfast, and free fruit in the room replenished every day! Of course, it wouldn't have been so wonderful if not for the superb staff at the hotel. They were friendly, helpful, and genuine, and absolutely made me feel like I was the most important guest there. And of all the excellent services I received, one which stood out for me, but which is not usually reviewed, was the excellent car and tour guide service provided by the hotel. Many people forego the chance to rent a car for their visits as the tuk-tuk is already included in the hotel rate. But at only US$20 per day, you can hire the car for one whole day and get to travel in comfort and speed. The driver I had spoke good English and was very knowledgeable. It was definitely worth the money. When we travel, it's not only the hotel that makes or breaks the experience because afterall, we spend more time outside the hotel than within it. So, if you really want your stay at Angkor Wat to be unforgettable, why not spend a little more? Please ask the hotel for more details about renting a car when you check in.
