“Ethical and Enjoyable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

It is good to see employers investing in their staff and it shows as the staff here seem genuinely happy in their work and are very friendly and chatty.
Along with a good buffet breakfast offering a variety of traditional and European dishes they also have a very good restaurant menu which can be enjoyed on the very pleasant roof terrace.
We arranged our temple tour through the hotel which guaranteed a good guide and driver.
The hotel is a short walk from the main town which was a blessing as the town can get busy with loads of open markets, bars and restaurants catering for the mass of tourists.
There is also a hot tub on the roof but unfortunately not enough room for a pool

We spent some days including Christmas eve in Siem Reap, at SM.
Spacious rooms, clean and well equipped. Very nice and efficient staff. Nice bar on the rooftop.
Excellent location, just a few minutes walk from from the old market!
Our only "disappointment" was the lack of outdoor dining facilities. While you can have your breakfast just outside, dinner is served in the dining room. Coming from a cold nordic winter we enjoy having the dinner outside in the beautiful tropic night! Actually no real problem at SM, as the excellent and charming restaurant square 24 is just 50 m away!

We were grateful to find a room in this enterprise, through another hotel, when we arrived in siem reep with no booking and were being high jacked elsewhere by tuc tuc driver on commission.
The hotel reception greeted us weary and hot travellers with a face towel and drink. The staff are trained well to take responsibility and respond proactively. A very positive experience. A cocktail included is a great gesture and helps one experience the roof terrace and take up the offer of half price food ?early sat eve. We stayed 3 nights. The Thai massage was great. New Swimming pool should be operating now.

Room Tip: The location is away from the night scene.

We couldn't have been happier with our stay at the Soria Moria. The staff was more welcoming and friendly than anywhere else I've stayed EVER. They always greeted us by name, asked us how our day was, how we slept, how our meal was. They were also extremely helpful when it came to planning our daily treks—there's so much to do in Siem Reap that it can be overwhelming to decide where to start. The whole property was also extremely clean, which is particularly impressive given how dusty the roads are!

There are definitely places you can stay in Siem Reap that would be more luxurious or a bit closer to the 'action' of the Pub Street area, but this hotel was perfect for a trip where you don't plan to spend much time in the room. (And why would you, given the location?) A great value, a short walk from dozens of excellent restaurants. Perfect, perfect, perfect.

I can only echo the superlatives expressed by many others who've stayed at the Soria Moria. My family and I stayed for three nights and were extremely satisfied by the condition of the rooms, the location, the onsite restaurant and the staff. No doubt, there more luxurious properties in Siem Reap but for travelers seeking tremendous value, I believe the Soria Moria would more than hold its own. We arrived by bus from Phnom Penh and were met by a driver dispatched from the hotel. A 10 minute ride through town and down Wat Bo Road left me wondering whether I had made a good choice. The instant I stepped into the lobby, I had no doubt. I was struck by the tasteful, Scandinavian simplicity of the lobby and restaurant; a few minutes later, the quality and cleanliness of the rooms (208 and 209) sealed it. (208 and 209) do not have much in the way of views; we saved our "viewing" for the temples and town and only used the rooms to get undisturbed sleep. The hotel staff, from the cleaning ladies to the managers, are simply superb. I think some were trainees but it was a tremendous pleasure to offer some "assistance", however meager, toward their progress in English and "customer relations". It's a great place to stay - the onsite restaurant, offering a mix of local and western fare is very good. I would return to the Soria Moria in a heartbeat and would strongly recommend it to anyone who places a premium on good value while at the same time supporting, in small ways, the effort to help local men and women to acquire marketable skills.

The staff is amazing, great location, you can walk to the pub street in 10 minutes !
The rooms a big, bright and clean. Big bathroom. Felt really good.
Food is excellent.
What is amazing here is the people who work here.
Also that this hotel invest in the community, it is so important here in Cambodia, they need it. Just for that you should go!

This hotel is the cleanest hotel I've stayed at in Cambodja! Staff is friendly with a genuine approach, rooms are spacious and it's a 5 minute walk to the action. What I love most is that it invests in its Cambodian staff (education) and gives back to the community (e.i. Bike rental is charity for clean drinking water and grantibg scholarships). What a place, I am truly inspired after a perfect stay! Owner happens to walk in and looks very simple, is kind and approachable!
