“Pleasant stay, good value for money”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

Smaller hotel with good location. The staff is excellent, very helpful, although some are not as proficient in English as others, but this is part of the experience, no? Pleasant, clean rooms although we had some problems with our AC not functioning. It was looked at twice, but we then opted to change rooms and the AC was fine. Staff in reception very helpful with information and will assist with guides, tours and transportation. The restaurant served made to order omelettes, bread, yoghurt, fruit, musli, all was good. Otherwise food was very good for both lunch and dinner. Hotel started by Norwegian couple, they have trained local staff which now own shares in the hotel which will be owned by the staff eventually. All in all a very pleasant stay. Our children remained home, otherwise would have opted for hotel with pool.

Room Tip: Room 105 faces the street and can be noisy.

My daughter and I stayed here in October. Our room on the 3rd floor was spacious, clean and quiet. The hotel is within easy walking distance to Pub Street and the nearby shopping streets.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They organized a guide and Tuk Tuk to visit Angkor Wat and both were very good. The rooftop bar was a nice place to see a view over Siem Reap and enjoy a drink and snack at the end of a hot day! we would stay again.

The Soria Moria is one of the nicest, friendliest hotels I have stayed in so far in S.E. Asia. Not only is it a comfortable, clean and conveniently located, it supports the local community and they offer good, solid advice on how to be a responsible tourist. They have a good restaurant and roof-top bar. The staff go out of their way to help and are genuinely caring. It is the sort of place one could settle down in for a long period of time and become "part of the family". I highly recommend this. I am sad to leave. Christina, Oslo, Norway.

Location:
Nice location, not too far from the tourist areas. Also within walking distance of Pub street. It is on one of the main city roads, so it may get a little noisy in the morning.

Room:
We booked the room with three single beds, and it was incredibly spacious. The bathroom was very modern as well. The quality of the room far exceeded my expectations.

Service:
The staff is very friendly. Complementary breakfast downstairs, and a free drink upon arrival on the rooftop bar. We also took advantage of room service one night, which was nice after a long day of walking.

This is a nice hotel with friendly staff and an admirable outlook on community support. Unfortunately, they seem to have stopped doing the airport pickup but as you can get a car into town for a fixed $7 or tuktuk for less (depends on baggage really) it's not too much of an imposition to sort out for yourself at the airport (we ended up hiring our taxi driver for the next three days - some of course have rather better English than others).

The room (a superior double) was large and clean, every facility we could have wanted at a very reasonable price. There are a couple of film channels for evenings when you're too knackered to move (heat and temples will do it!), also I believe a library of DVDs available from reception. Rooftop bar is nice with a good view.

Location wise, you can walk into town (while being hailed by what seems to be every tuktuk driver in SE Asia) or take a $2 ride - there's generally a driver or two outside the hotel.

The food in the restaurant was pretty good, including the breakfast buffet, though as they are always training staff sometimes things can get a little confused and take a little time. Patience was rewarded though with a fun tapas-style meal in the end on that particular occasion.

It's a great base for exploring the temples, I would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: The lift doesn't go to level 4 if that's an issue for you, we had a room on the front of the...

This hotel is hands down one of the best I've ever stayed in! Having been away from home for almost a month now it was great to turn up here and have all the comforts of home including DVDs at reception to borrow, bikes, bathrobes and slippers- it was so relaxing, the jacuzzi and roof top bar were an added bonus!
The food is delicious too, breakfast and dinner- don't forget to try to Swedish meatballs! Yum!

We chose to stay at the Soria Moria Boutique Hotel in September after doing a bit of research on the Hotel's agenda which was to help the underprivileged people of Siem Reap, especially the children but we arrived with a bit of skepticism! It was great to see that all our doubts were unfounded and that the hotel actually played a very active role in working with and for the local community.

This in no way meant that the service and quality of stay had to be compromised. We had a very satisfactory 3 night 4 day stay at the hotel and the service was very warm to say the least. I would most definitely recommend the hotel to everyone who's planning to visit Siem Reap!
