Soria Moria Boutique Hotel
Ranked #152 of 373 Hotels in Siem Reap
Reviewed February 22, 2008

Housed in a beautiful colonial-style building, the Soria Moria was in a good location - only 5 mins walk from the old town for restaurants and bars. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms and public areas were the cleanest we'd seen in the whole of Cambodia. Breakfast was good with a range of Western & Asian items. The rooftop jacuzzi, whilst small, was a delight - located on a sweet roof terrace with views of the tropical plants and trees in the area. Great for the price and would definitely stay there again.

The Soria Moria is the perfect place to stay in Siem Reap. Unlike the barrage of huge resorts in town (which look a little worse for wear), the Soria Moria is bright and shiney and new. It had only been open a few months before we arrived, and you can tell a little that there are still a few kinks to work out. But overall, our experience was fantastic, and I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone! The best part of the hotel is that it's a hotel with a mission. They make giving back to the community of Siem Reap a high priority, and it's apparent in everything from the items in their gift shop (silk purses and scarves made by orphans in a program that trains orphans in skills they can use to support themselves) to the locally made furnishings (which support local craftsmen and lend a beautiful authentic Cambodian feel to the hotel). The service was excellent, we had a few questions about our tour package and they bent over backwards to accomodate our schedule and make everything just as we wanted. The hotel is right in the middle of everything - just across the river from the Old Market (where all the fun bars, restaurants, and shops are), and they will provide a driver and/or tour guide to the temple sites for you for a reasonable charge. We got a package deal which included the hotel, tours to the temples and a floating village, a driver, an English speaking tour guide, dinner, and massage - the took care of everything for us!The owner was out of town, and there was a little problem with our bill, but the staff was so helpful in trying to fix everything for us. We spoke with the owners extensively, and they only have plans to make the hotel better - the gym and spa should be opening soon (or already). And the restaurant and roof top bar are already operational and a great way to enjoy an evening!
