“A perfect place for a restful break from our hectic lives”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

We attended a wedding at the Ashford Estate in Allentown, N.J., over the weekend and needed a place to stay close by. Neither my boyfriend nor I have spent much time at inns, but I was delighted to find a B&B that made us feel so welcome! Within moments of arriving, we realized we were in a special place with a lot of history within the walls! The farmland hugging the property was gorgeous, although we weren't lucky enough to have the horses come up to say hi as they apparently are known to do. The tree-lined driveway and the wide porches felt like something out of another time period. We didn't have enough time to really enjoy the property but we did make the most out of the adirondack chairs in the yard for morning coffee. The entire place was so quiet _ a wonderful respite from our crazy lives. The room we rented was cozy, the bathroom spacious and the rest of the house just filled with memories of a life the owners created together. The innkeepers/owners Cathy and Bill were just wonderful! They were incredibly pleasant but went to great care to give us our space, too. Cathy is a walking history book of the property and house and make sure she tells you the story of how they came to own the place and who may have been there before them! Plus, she's an incredible cook! A country breakfast of apple whole wheat pancakes and sausage was perfect for the gorgeous autumn morning! We'll be back!

We were looking for accommodations close to a wedding in Allentown and came upon Peacefields. The B&B was really lovely and felt like a step back in time -- in a good way! We stayed in the first floor suite which was equipped with a modern bath. The breakfast was warm and satisfying - homemade danish, french toast with apples, and sausage. Cathy was a delight to talk to and we will definitely return to Peacefields when next in the area.

Surrounded by farmland & horse pastures it could not get any quieter. Really enjoyed the area. Hiked to the historic mill returned to take a swim & enjoy the wildlife poolside. Coffee on the porch each morning listening to the birds. Serene atmosphere. Cathy & Bill are very accomodating Innkeepers & know the history of the area & their beautiful home. The room on the 2nd floor was super comfortable with electiric fireplace & amazing bath. Not a far travel to NJ horse park. I highly recommend staying here.

My wife and I (and 2 year old dog) spent this weekend during the height of fall foliage. The location, although a little isolated, is a beautiful setting. The surrounding area is of back country rural roads adjacent to horse farms and farms. The inn itself was well maintained. We stayed on the first floor. The room was somewhat small and tight to get around, but well appointed. The bathroom attached to the room was a nice size Our only complaint was the TV wasn't working which we would have preferred. It's a little distance (ie. 4 or 5 miles or so )of a drive to nearby restaurants, but nothing to difficult. Breakfast was served at a flexible time for us. The location is within an easy drive of the NJ beaches (we enjoyed the Seagurt beach and town of Mannasquan) and also not far from the famous outdoor sculptor garden in Hamilton NJ.
Overall, the innkeepers (Cathy and Bill) were pleasant. They did make a point of explaining some of the rules of having a dog when we arrived (we are always very considerate when traveling with our pet).

We stayed at the Inn last weekend and had a great experience. The "Early Summer" room was perfect for our needs. The electric fireplace took the chill out of the morning air, breakfast was terrific, our hostess was as friendly as can be, and the inn had a charm that only a historic house can provide. The local town (Allentown) had a charm of its own and some great restaurants. A tour of the local historic mill provided an interesting morning. We will return.
