This was not plan A, or plan B, and plan C for staying in the area did not work out either. So, we were getting tired and starting to worry about getting a room in our budget for the week at all. According the the reviews I'd read, just the whole area is terrible. My husband pulled into the first motel that said discount weekly rates, and I had not checked the reviews. First we were told $300 for the week, and we started to relax, as we had heard that getting a room Friday and Saturday would be either difficult or expensive. Then we were told for $375 we could have a room with a kitchen, would we like to see it. My husband mentioned how big the room was, and then the price went up to $400. Is that with tax, okay. We didn't ask for non-smoking, but it didn't smell particularly bad, which was my other major concern for the week. I didn't look at the room close enough before paying. Two beds, both mattresses were terrible. I've stayed at several places with kitchens, and all of them had dishes, but when I asked for them they were not provided. So, I had to go spend an extra $20 at Walmart for dishes to use the stove and such. NO COFFEE maker in the room, and there is only coffee in the office from 8:30-11:00. Sign outside says breakfast, but a sign inside says breakfast is only on weekends. I am used to motel breakfast, but this was a mini muffin, only a few out at a time so you don't take enough to really be much of a breakfast. THE FIRST MORNING THE WATER WAS TURNED OFF. We called the office thinking the city had done that for repairs and that the manager would know when the water would be back on. The manager was unavailable, even for this emergency, even though he's probably the guy who lives over the motel. Maybe the water will be back on after nine. It was closer to ten, so it was off for like three hours, and since we wanted a bath, we were behind schedule about two hours on our only day to do tourist stuff. Also, the bath was tampered with so that you can't take a bath unless you bring duck tape or something for the drain. And there is no hot water and not very warm water. If you just let it run for a bit and waste a lot of water you eventually get not cold water. And then, the water was turned off again the next day. I called the office to tell the manager, and he asked what room number. Why would it matter what room number unless it was something done on purpose by the motel? I told him, and this time the water came back on within a few minutes. So why did it take three hours the first time? The water was again turned off later in the week, and again it was turned on a few minutes later after calling the office and telling him the room number. A coworker was happy staying a couple of miles away at a Red Roof Inn for not much more money, and we probably could have got the same deal with one of those coupon books. We were all worried about getting a room cause the whole area must be sold out Friday and Saturday, but that did not seem to be the case. And at the end of the week we learned that we didn't have to stay all day Saturday, but of course we were stuck with this room cause we'd already paid for it. There's another Rodeway Inn four doors down that somehow got worse reviews than this one.
