Stayed here for 6 nights and would definitely recommend. Located right next to the Chobe Safari Lodge, this lodge is quieter and more relaxed, with a better restaurant and overall vibe. The activities booking office is great but the game drives are a little mass market, so it is probably worth arranging your own separately. Overall, perfect if you are on a mid-range budget with excellent access to CNP.

Room tip: A and B block both have a view of a paddock where wild animals enter from the park

We spent 3 nights at the Chobe Bush Lodge in May 2016. It really is a wonderful place with very friendly/helpful staff. We were in rooms B10 and B11, which were huge, with high vaulted thatched ceilings, and balconies looking out into the bush. This is a new hotel, and sister hotel of the Chobe Safari Lodge, which is just across the road from where we took a Chobe River cruise. The meals at the Chobe Bush are a la carte and beautifully prepared (also reasonably priced if you are not on a pre-paid meal plan). The staff on reception will change your cash into Pula, but you can pay by credit card, dollars and sterling for incidentals. The entrance to Chobe National Park is 5 to 10 minutes drive away, where sightings of the wildlife far exceeded my expectations. We were so sorry to leave, and hope to return soon.

Chobe National Park is like Yellowstone or Grand Canyon -- unique sights that everyone wants to see. So, unlike some lesser known parks in Botswana (like Moremi) the safari experience is on an industrial scale. We had no complaints about Chobi Bush Lodge. It was the most luxurious and amenity filled place we stayed during three weeks of safari. The room was large, clean and comfortable, the shower great and the meals excellent. But is was also large, rather crowded and the safari cars were completely full. However, we do recommend Chobe (particularly the river cruises) and the Bush Lodge is a fine place to stay.

Bearing in mind that you are in the middle of nowhere this lodge did a super job. Room comfortable and very spacious. Staff lovely. A la carte dinner was very good. Buffet dinner at the nearby and sister Safari Lodge was ghastly. A bit late for a popular dish? No chance, no renewal. Rushed and horrid. What is worse was a stomach upset that night. Eat at the Bush Lodge.

We arrived late afternoon on our first day, after a long day, we were welcomed with a refreshing welcome drink. We were explained where to find our room and off we went to unload the vehicle and settle into our room. After settling in, we headed across to Chobe Safari Lodge for a quick drink and to watch the sunset over the river which was gorgeous. We went for dinner around 18h30 as we were quite tired after a long day, we enjoyed the complimentary starter that everyone got of sweet potato and crisp chips. Main course was not too bad. The chicken being really nice, the pork chop, unfortunately being quite burnt on the outside but this was due to it being a nice thick pork chop. We woke up and headed off on our morning adventure returning around 10h00 to book our activities for the following day. I managed to fit in a quick massage and we had booked fishing for 08h00 the next morning. The massage was unfortunately not the most amazing. The massage sala as such, is in an old boat with the most beautiful setting, the only exception being it is right up next to the camping site. The entire time during my massage (which unfortunately only felt like a grapeseed oil rub) all I could hear of the music was the neighbouring camp site with one site setting up camp and one breaking down camp with cars revving. The rest of the day when we were at the lodge was nice and relaxed. The following morning, after being told we needed to meet at the Safari Lodge at 07h45 sharp for our fishing adventure was a let-down. When we arrived, I checked with the reception that we needed to wait on the Jetty. Eventually just after 08h00 I went to find out for the activities department why we were still waiting when the lady sitting behind her desk told me that it was only just after 08h00 and someone would be there soon. I explained that we were told to be there at 07h45 and we had booked our fishing to start at 08h00. I then met our fishing guide, who was actually in the office to do paperwork and knew nothing about the fishing adventure. (Still no apology from anyone except the guide at this stage). The guide explained that he would quickly grab a coolerbox with some ice so that we could get going. While waiting on the boat, we had now realised that we would be running very late and that no fishing equipment was set up (the equipment being inclusive of the rate). When the guide returned to the boat, we headed out and decided to rather just use our two little rods that we had with us instead to delaying our departure by even more waiting for the guide to put together the equipment. We eventually got going around 08h20. We had an average morning fishing, not being the guides fault, just due to the river being in flood. At this stage I was also so irritated by the entire experience that I didn’t really want to fish anymore either (we had the choice between a photographic river cruise or the fishing and opted for the fishing). Just after 11h00 our guide told us that our 3 hours was now up and we could either pack up and head back, or pay for an additional few minutes. That was just the final cherry on the top so we told him we could head back straight away. The housekeepers this afternoon, also were knocking on our door at 15h00 to try and clean our room (they had already done it for the morning but obviously this was the afternoon tidy up) and when we told them to come back in half an hour as we were leaving to head out again then, they just never returned. When we left we managed to have a look into one of the other rooms which the housekeepers were busy cleaning and it seemed that our room was missing some stuff. We had no sign to say clean our room, there was no folder with information in it on times of meals, how the wifi works or anything like that. For a new lodge, you would expect those small things to all be there.

So all in all, rooms were amazing, housekeeping definitely needed some work, and additional activities booked through the lodge a definite let down, the food was nice too. We did love the fact that due to Chobe bush Lodge and Chobe Safari lodge being one company you can enjoy some of the amenities at Chobe Safari Lodge.
