We stayed for 3 nights, 4 adults and 6 children. The rooms are comfortable with hot drink making facilities and tv's. There were works being done to the grounds and poolside bar, but this was not a problum, the staff worked very hard upon our arrival to clean and tidy up the pool area for our childrent to swim and by next morning it was ready, if a little cold being July.
The restaurant was good value, and the scones and muffins at brunch fantastic.
The hotel is located in the centre of Kasane and convienient for the banks, Spar and other facilities.
Would note that the cost of washing clothes is expensive and there is no laundry in Kasane. After 6 days camping in the bush we had hoped to find facilities.

I stayed here for a night in May and was very impressed with the lodge. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant was basic but good food. The tour guides were some of the best I've ever had in Chobe! The most impressive was the customer service. My truck broke down and they went above and beyond to help organize a mechanic to come (on his day off) and fix the starter. I highly recommend Water Lily to anyone traveling through Kasane!

We stayed several nights at the Water Lily Lodge in Kasane, Botswana after time in Angola and Zimbabwe. It is a nicely appointed hotel, not fancy, but comfortable and good value for the money. We had no problems with air conditioning, noise, or other basics like hot water in the shower- and it was clean and had nice natural light. We loved the owner and her husband, both of whom are very knowledgeable and responsive. We didn't have much interaction with the other staff but had no problems. The dining room is a nice, small restaurant, and another is outside by the pool. The food was good. We liked the location of the hotel- you can walk a short distance and be at the SPAR grocery or the post office and a small mall complete with the ever-present Chinese shop. The best parts of the stay were the game river safaris where we saw more animals than on any other safari after more than 30 years traveling and working in Africa. The Lodge's boat captain (named "Captain") was the best we had in our travels. There were no openings on the second safari so they helped us find an alternative at the "Ladies No. 1 Travel" nearby. It was good too! The owner of Water Lily, Monica, was so helpful in guiding us to a reasonable way to air freight our luggage to Gaborone so we didn't have to take it with us on the small plane to Maun- it worked perfectly. She also suggested accommodation in Maun, which was also great. For those expecting high-end luxury, don't book here, but if you want good value, great people and comfortable surroundings and some insight into the local culture and tourism trade, I'd choose the Water Lily. The prices were cheaper than the usual safari hotels, and it had less of the Disney-like hype that usually goes with those places- something we try to avoid because it is more stage show than real. I also love the fact that it is owned by a Batswana woman, and she knows her area. Her husband is a Spanish big game hunter who was displaced from Zimbabwe, and he knows wildlife. We enjoyed it greatly!

Room Tip: If you don't mind being upstairs some of the rooms over look the Chobe River.

Room comfortable. enjoyed the tv, food was horrible and the restaurant service was even
worse. Had to pay in cash for all but one safari as their drivers were busy & they had to
contract out. The animals in Chobe were great- we even saw 2 roan antelope- our first
ever after 9 other safaris!

We've stayer one night at Water Lily before a 15 days safari in Botswana. Lodge has been pre booked by safari company.
Water Lily is a relatively nice and quite 2 star lodge: not great but perfectly ok for a short stay.
The room was decent, the bathroom ok, the restaurant had a very small menù but good food. Average staff: not hugely helpfull but not rude also.
Late check out at 12:00 was not a problem.
The location is good, at short walking distance from shops and a bank.

We went to Kasane with the thought of pressing on to Victoria Falls but read and were told it was difficult to get a private vehicle through the Zimbabwe border. (That's true but you can still see the Falls in a private car through Zambia.) The purpose of our one-night stay at Water Lily Lodge was to do the excursion from the hotel. This is a 2-star property. Our room was the nearest to the reception desk and overlooked the back garden and pool, and was relatively comfortable and quiet. The pillows were cheap as were the towels. The bathroom is very small and the tiled shower was not in good condition but the water was hot. The tire on our rented Land Rover was punctured on the way to the hotel, and a staff member took it to be fixed for a few dollars, but that's the best service we got here. Staff is indifferent and/or inefficient. They couldn't change a 50 pula note (about $7 USD), and late checkout (2 PM) was a problem even though there were maybe three other guests at the hotel. In the end, they allowed us to check out at 2. The excursion to Vic Falls had to be paid in cash; they would not put it on the bill. The restaurant is nothing special, and breakfast, runny eggs which upset my stomach for two days, is included in the reasonable rate. Although this is a gated hotel, someone tried to break into the Land Rover. If your expectations are not high, Water Lily is okay for an overnight stay. It's on the water, so there are nice sunsets but the mosquitoes, even in fall weather, mostly kept us indoors. Swimming pool is a splash pool and unheated.

We extended our day trip to Botswana to stay overnight here and would have included an early morning safari if staying again. Very Good, magnificant surrounds. Room and bathroom was good. No internet. Service was good but was disappointed with the evening meal. Would stay again for one or two nights.
