My daughter and I spent three nights here, and enjoyed every moment. Rooms beautfuilly furnished and clean, lovely gardens, gorgeous spa. Food was good, a wide range of choices, and well prepared. Really good service too.

Lovely to watch the sun going down over the river, and then listen to the hippos grunting at night.

Maybe the place has improved dramatically, or maybe it's the price relative to other options in the area, but I really didn't have one bad thing to say about my stay. I had to book the trip on very short notice, so I didn't have many options for lodging. Both tour operators I considered had Mowana as the hotel, so despite my hesitation from reading the reviews here, I resigned myself to toughing it out. There was nothing tough about the stay, though. I found the service to be very friendly and not slow, especially for Africa. The buffet dinners certainly weren't gourmet, but there were definitely some nice options, and my tour guide alerted me that there was some difficulty in getting any food at present due to strict health regulations. My room was a little small, but really well-appointed. The bathroom was a nice size and had a large tub and nice separate shower. Most people aren't going to worry too much about accommodation at Chobe since the emphasis is going to be on the wildlife, so Mowana isn't the best option for everyone. But I strongly recommend it if it meets your price/amenity needs. As long as you don't go expecting a Ritz Carlton, I think you'll be pleased with the stay.

If you ever got the impression that you were paying over the odds, you'll know how I felt the whole stay. I don't understand the pricing. Sure the location is great, but the hotel fails to live up to the expectations the rates suggest. The rooms are small, the meals are average and the service is iffy (which is not to say that the staff weren't remarkably friendly and pleasant).

My son enjoyed the brand new fitness centre and the spa looks like it will be nice when it's done.

I have stayed here twice on business and intend to bring my family back here the next trip. Comfortable, pleasant staff, food is quite good. The rooms have magnificent views over the river or you can sit at the bar and watch the sun go down (bring mosquito repellent). At night, you can hear the hippos grunting and during the day, you can see mongoose and other animals on the grounds. Well-appointed. Internet in lobby is OK, not completely reliable

The hotel has a huge dramatic foyer built around a (supposedly) 800 yr old boabab tree. It all feels very grand. The staff were friendly and helpful. the room was pleasant. But, you should stay here for the location on the river bank. The native wildlife just keeps wandering around the grounds and it feels rather magical. I have never stayed anywhere where a warthog family are welcome to potter around in the reception hall!

Two nights in April for our wedding anniversary! The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. Our room was pretty with a great bed and good bathroom but there was water damage on the walls - it is just not the same level of luxury as in earlier days but the service was still terrific. The one HUGE disappointment was the dining room which has been turned into a company cantine with no atmosphere, bright lights and loud, just not special. Food was ok but not better than that. We were on the groud floor and the trees are now too high to give a view of the river.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a view.

We have been in that Hotel many times in the past years and we see the level has dropped dramatically. Last time we visited in December 2011 and we promised ourselves that will be the last visit there. Staff unfriendly and very slow, food horrible, old leftovers from previous days, ambiance after renovation BAD- LOST its African style and touch. Internet not working most of the time, the only good thing in the Nature around the hotel. But this you can find in other hotels around as well. So, better stay in Chobe Game safari lodge-there you will find just the opposite of what I wrote. We moved there the last day of our stay and we saw BIG deference, we loved it:))
