From the moment we arrived we were in awe of the beauty of Mother Africa, where the natural beauty of the river and bush was complimented by the tasteful, and luxurious accommodation, that blends and melds with the surroundings.,The service and attention to detail were exceptional, and show the obvious passion of the 'hands on' owners Adam and Jenny. The early morning game drive on our first morning was one of the best, and the knowledge, and perceptiveness of our guide was truly outstanding. We were not rushed at any of viewings as we have felt at other lodges. The Game drive was however bettered by the boat cruise the following day where we were treated to herds of Elephant 100 strong frolicking in the water, and a myriad of birds and other game. The experience exceeded our expectations in every department, from the attentive ,happy staff, excellent cuisine and the tasteful luxury of the rooms. This is the best lodge experience we have had to date and would advise any travelers to the area to see if Bakwena has space for them before considering any others.
An authentic, luxury African getaway right on the banks of the Chobe River. The game viewing was absolutely amazing both on the game drive and boat cruise - watching the elephants romping and rolling in the water only a few meters away!!! Besides the lodge offering complementary village tours by foot and by bicycle, we had the opportunity to visit the local wildlife rehabilitation centre, Caracal Bio-Diversity Centre, where the kids had the opportunity to interact with Bush Babies, Banded Mongeese, Ethel the Aardvark and Miley, the highly entertaining 6 month old Baboon. A truly fun and informative experience!
Just superior lodge: great food, very good service level, friendliness of staff, area surrounding the camp, safari guides, rooms... Absolutely recommend this lodge to all travellers that want to have a little luxury after safari tours.
Whenn arriving the entrance looks a little basic. But don't judge to early. You will get to your cottages via a path through bushes. This Lodge is completely run by females. They greet you with song and dance. The cottages are large and have very nice facilities. The food is great and the trips by safari jeep and boat are really an experience. No AC, therefore it is Afrika.
The personal and guides are exceptionell friendly. Think about going there.
The location to Chobe National Park makes this lodge an excellent choice for any traveler. It's a relatively new lodge with excellent amenities. The staff and accommodations are par excellent! The manager, OP, was professional and pleasant and set the example for her entire staff. The kitchen staff prepared delicious menus for me since I do not eat red meat. I really appreciated their kindness.
Obviously, any traveler visits Botswana to engage in animal observation. Every day of the three days I stayed there, I watched antelope munch on the bushes just outside my chalet. What a joy it was to be so close to nature!
I need to compliment Bakwena's guides, especially Boago. Wow! I saw so many animals on this segment of my seven-week visit to Southern Africa. Boago has a sixth sense in anticipating where the animals are and where they will move about. One morning, Boago took me on an early morning independent game drive and we watched 14 lions begin their walk across an open area. After watching them for several minutes, Boago suggested that we move to a different location. I couldn't believe what was happening. Each and every lion sauntered next to our Land Cruiser and finally lay down under the bushes ignoring us as I took photo after photo of these majestic creatures.
Finally, every staff member "went the extra mile" for each traveler. I highly recommend this lodge.
