Last week, we (wife, 3 kids and myself) did a 2 day overnight camping safari with Steenbok Safari. While we only met Moabi for 5 seconds when he came to introduce himself, the other guides were excellent. Their driver picked us up from our lodge in Victoria Falls at the appointed time (7.30 am) and escorted us accross the Botswana border ahead of the huge toursit group). The Steenbok Safari driver took us to Chobe where guide Charles took us on a personalized siteseeing cruise along the Chobe river. Saw giant hippos, buffaloes, lizards and crocs up close and personal. Then lunch at Chobe safari lodge. Then we met Nico, our guide for the next day and a half and onto safari. Over the next day and a half, we saw nearly everything including 4 lion spottings 2 of them within touching distance. Nico was really excellent. The camping was great. They booked a campsite in the middle of Chobe park and it was a great experience hearing the roar of the lions in the middle of the night and being visited by a herd of buffalo while eating breakfast at 6.30 am. They went out of their way for us with our special dietary requirements - we only eat Kosher, so we barbecued salmon that they bought for us). With hindsight, I would have done the cruise on the second day as that whole day safari was quite long. Nico again escorted us back to the border where Steenbok Safari's Zimbabwe driver met us again and drove us back to our Vic Falls lodge. All in all a great experience.
