We booked this tour last-minute and were happy we still got to go, even though the season seemed to have ended. Good contact with the owner/organization. Communication on the itinerary could have been a little better. Food was nice, even for vegetarians. Not a lot to do in the evening, so bring a book or some cards.
To no fault of the organization, the jungle was not the best one we have seen. Due to the drought, most animals had moved up to find food and a lot of plants were dry or dying. The hikes we did were therefore a nice experience, but not as mind blowing as we had hoped. We missed some variety in scenery and activities.
I had been to the South American jungles twice before, once in Ecuador and once in Peru, but this trip was definitely the best. I saw a tapir and my guide really knew about the wildlife in the region, much more so than any other guides I had had previously. I asked about very specific, niche bird species that live in Bolivia and he knew exactly where to find them and where not. Of course, no guide can guarantee that you will see a specific species, but this guide was able to accurately set expectations and what could not be seen where we were and was also able to accurately look for those we could see. Of the two bird species that were possible to see in Amboró that I mentioned, my guide was able to track down one of them. Over a 2 day 1 night period, this really is spectacular.
Highly recommended.
We wanted to book a three day, two-night tour with this agency. After exchanging messages via WhatsApp, we asked a question about the equipment and what to do with our belongings? The proposal was to leave them in a garbage bag for the duration of our tour! No discussion and no other arrangement possible. We put an end to the exchange after receiving an aggressive message written in capital letters! We're glad we didn't go with this agency!
We do remember this group. They were trying to take with them their suitcases to the jungle with overnight in camping. We explained them that the car does not get all the way to the camping site and if the group want to stay one more night more inside the jungle is not possible to carry suitcases on the jungle trails. We told them that the suitcases have to stay at their hotel in the city of Santa Cruz or at the office of Amboro Tours in BuenaVista (Near the park entrance).
All our demands were satisfied. Good professionals. They take care of every last detail. Excellent service.
We enjoyed our trip to the ambaro Nationalpark.
The landscape was beautiful, for example the volcanes, the viewpoint and the waterfall. We've been happy about the monkeys in the trees, the colourful butterflies and the guinea pig.
Although it might be better to do a two day tour to see more animals.
The lunch was great and diverse. We enjoyed the buffet and the local coffee.
The guide was great. He answered our questions and explained a lot about the plants and landscape.
A very nice and adventurous experience with good hosts/guides. They seem to know Amboro Jungle very well so that you can not ever get lost. Even though you go into the Jungle at night. They offer you 3 meals a day that are tasty and very good although there’s not even a real kitchen.
