“Nice View - Worth the Effort”
Review of Cerro Calvario

Ranked #4 of 11 things to do in Copacabana

The climb is hard for some people, but individuals with all levels of fitness seemed to make it to the top. Lots of garbage and graffiti, but the views of the town are great. If you are the religious type, you will like the concept of the Calvario.

The views from El Calvario are amazing! Best time to go is before sunset (specially if you like photography). Just be aware to take some coca tea or altitude sickness tablets, and were comfortable shoes.

This small hill overlooks the town of Copacabana, and offers a really unforgettable view over Lake Titicaca from the Calvary monument at the top. But the steps are really rough going so good walking shoes are indispensable. Youll find the usual clutch of vendors at the top, but nearly all were gone at 6PM the day I climbed it.

You should go there especially because of the view on the lake BUT the stair climbing can be REALLY exhausting.

It's quite a steep walk to the top, but the views over the lake are impressive, especially at sunset. Besides, you can tell everyone afterwards you climbed a 4,000m tall mountain!
