“Great location, good rooms, hot showers!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2013

Great hotel with a lot of rooms (24 of them), some of which face Lake Titicaca. When you book this hotel through Booking.com, make sure to place a request for a room facing the lake as they get filled in real fast. Rooms 101-102, 111-112, 201-202 & 211-212 don’t have any windows and are the worst in terms of space and amenities. You get double beds or two single beds and each room has its own bathroom. The hotel provides towels and hot water (not available between 10pm and 6am).

Breakfast is available between 7:15am-9:30am and is a hearty one with toasts (butter & jam), eggs, one slice of bacon & one slice of cheese, cereal, yogurt, coffee/tea, that will fill you up for the day.

Prices on booking.com are US$20/$30 per night for single/double, but we know someone who checked-in on the spot and they were give a similar room for US$11. Depending on the season, they may have rooms available for on-the-spot booking.

Wifi is available throughout the hotel and is good quality, but it is turned off between 10pm and 7am. There is a computer in the locker room which also has no access to internet between the same times.

The staff are friendly and helpful, especially the man in evenings and nights as he speaks English. They have luggage storage room where you can leave your bags if you decide to stay at Isla del Sol for a few nights or decide to go to Cusco or Puno.

The hotel provides free transfers to and from bus station so yo don’t have to walk the uphill road leading to the hotel. Just inform them of your arrivals beforehand.

All in all a great location, good rooms, hot showers, friendly-cum-family run staff and value for money.

Copacabana is a real backpackers resort and therefore expect the quality of "hotels" to match the requirements and budgets for this category of traveller. We stayed here for two nights as part of our acclimatisation process for our mountaineering expeditions and took the boat trip to the Isla De Sol on Lake Titicaca to walk the length of the Island (Well worth the trip - thanks to Juan Carlos our guide for that day.). Rooms are basic, no hot water for the sink (just one wobbly tap!) but the shower was pretty good once you got over the very dangerous looking electric wiring! No heating in the rooms - there were a couple of portable gas fires on each floor, which were free to use, but only between 6 and 10 pm - but if you weren't quick enough, someone would get them before you. You have to be quick, very quick! However I have to say that the beds were incredibly comfortable and once you warmed them with your own body heat a good nights sleep ensued. Our lightshade was a hat which we found amusing. Plenty of power sockets in the rooms and downstairs in "courtyard" there was free water and Coca tea to drink. Breakfast was good, but put a fleece on, it was cold. We cannot comment on whether it was good value for money as the price was included in our overall trip and I couldn't see any prices around the place. The owners were friendly and courteous, no complaints there. Situated away from the main drag meant it was quiet but only five minutes walk downhill to get to the bars and restaurants. Can't complain really, it is what it is, pretty clean and basic and ideal for a few days.

Stayed there as a solo traveller for two non-consecutive nights (1 on isla del sol in between). I could leave my bag in a luggage room in between without any problem.

The room was big enough and the bed was large for 1, and although it was cold at night blankets made well up for it. The TV worked only for one channel and not when the weather was bad... Wifi on the other hand worked fine.
The shower was clean but hot water was a little sporadic.

The included breakfast was really good and generous, and all the staff was very willing to help out which makes a lot for a successful stay.

A good place to stay and it is not too expensive. The room was nice and breakfast as well. It's up a little hill but walkable with a backpack from the main street. Our room had a good view of the lake.

Nice hotel based around a huge courtyard.

Rooms were large and decent enough shower, not particularly hot.

Staff are very helpful though much cheaper to book trips from kiosks in town.

Free wi-fi and baggage storage. They sent a minibus to pick us up from the bus station.

We stayed for 2 nights here so we could do the full day tour of Isla del Sol. We generally agree with the other comments made here about the Hostel. The free fruit and coca tea etc is such a great bonus. The breakfast is wonderful, so much so we just had snacks for the rest of the day on our island trip and were not hungry till dinner time. We were unexpectedly picked up where our bus dropped us off, it was a great bonus as the hostel is uphill. Its really close to the centre of town though, so it was never far to get anywhere. Other people mention the showers... we found that these electric showers are a bit temperamental, but if you don't turn it on very much at all you get a hot shower, although not much pressure..... (your choice more pressure and cold or not much pressure and hot). The room was clean, we had towels provided, the bedding kept us nice and warm even though it was pretty cold when we were there. The owners speak a little English, but you can get buy pretty easily. They take Bolivianos or US Dollars to pay for the room. Our room 209 seemed to work ok for the Wifi, you cant expect much as far as speed or reliability we found in Bolivia so for what we have experienced so far it was pretty adequate. We would recommend a top floor room so no ones above you as it was a bit noisey with people walking around. We thought this hostel was cute, it has great paintings throughout the building and in the rooms, and would recommend to others.

Room Tip: Room 209 had a view of the lake, afternoon sun to warm up the room, less noise because your on the t...

We booked a double room through booking.com for 228BOB and then booked an extra night with the hotel directly for 210BOB a night.
The staff were really friendly and helpful and the owner spoke English.
The breakfast was fantastic, the best we'd had in Bolivia (in 7 weeks) and probably the best we'd had in South America over the last 5 months - pancakes, eggs, fruit, juice, hot drink, rolls, ham and cheese.
There was a free bottle of water in our room which was a nice touch and free waer, bananas, oranges, sweets and coca tea in the communal area, where there's also a chess board.
The beds were comfy and the shower was hot and good.
The wifi was a little slow, we couldn't stream, but it was fine for emailing and doing research.
Their baggage storage facility was secure (if you go to Isla del Sol).

Room Tip: 'Supieror' rooms have better views, but we had a normal room and could still see the lake an...
