This hotel is a gem. I stayed here after staying on 2 more expensive hotels on El Prado, and I vastly preferred Hotel Monserrat. It was much quieter, more secure, and as I said cheaper. The rooms were small but clean and nice. For an experienced traveller, I also think the area is better and more interesting even though it may not look that way at first glance. The area around Monserrat has some small, interesting and clean wine bars, restaurants and other bars that i liked better than the loudness & touristy feel of El Prado.
My only complaint is they failed to make a requested wakeup call. But I STRONGLY recommend, partic. if you are traveling on a budget.
