“Just home from another great visit!”
Reviewed April 17, 2012

As repeat guests, I'd like to share our (many) reasons for returning regularly to the Glynn House Inn over the past several years. Begin with the Inn's beautiful, well-appointed rooms and suites and the inviting common areas. Add the thoughtful, friendly service and convenient location. And then there are the terrific breakfasts and afternoon wine and snacks! The innkeepers, Glenn, Pam and Ingrid, are great hosts who work hard to make your stay enjoyable and are always ready with suggestions and information on area activities and dining choices. It all adds up to consistently memorable guest experiences.

The Inn is conveniently located in central New Hampshire, just a couple of minutes off I-93 and within easy reach of both the lakes and mountains. The area offers a wide range of activities in any season (check the Inn's excellent website for seasonal options).

My wife and I travel frequently, especially throughout New England, and enjoy staying in luxury inns and B&B's. The Glynn House is among our very favorites, and we recommend it wholeheartedly for its wonderful combination of luxury, comfort, service and value.

Glenn, Pam and Ingrid - we'll see you in the Fall!

Room Tip: The suites are really nice!

The couple that wrote this review have been staying at the Glynn House twice yearly, since we acquired the business seven years ago. They’re right – the suites are particularly nice – particularly during the colder months when visitors often spend more time at the Inn – and a soak in a bubbling double whirlpool bath is particularly welcome. Guests return again and again because the expect to receive uncompromising service and genuine hospitality. Repeat visitors provide a clear endorsement that we deliver! Thanks – Tom & Kathy – for taking the time to share your experience with other travelers.

The romantic Glynn House Inn – situated in the heart of New Hampshire’s spectacular lakes and mountains – offers guests an exceptional experience. A full gluten free breakfast menu is always available. Bring your favorite four-footed canine pal on holiday too and reserve one of five pet friendly rooms. Venture away from the Inn and antiquing, art galleries, boating, fine dining, fishing, golf, hiking, historic sites, ‘tax free’ shopping and scenic drives along tranquil country roads. Visit the Glynn House website for additional information about the Inn and local activities.

We spent 2 nights at the Glynn House and will definitely go back. The room was large, beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and spotless. I mean really spotless -- there was nothing to indicate that this was one of the pet-friendly rooms. Breakfast was delicious and large enough to fuel us into the afternoon. The owners were attentive without being intrusive, very friendly, and extremely accommodating to all of our needs. They seem to love what they do. As for being pet-friendly, they really mean it. Other hotels may grudgingly allow dogs to stay. The Glynn House provided a dog bed, water and food bowls, and dog treats, all without us asking. The owners inquired several times if our dog needed anything. Overall, just a wonderful place.

Many thanks to the guests from Connecticut who took the time to share their experience with other travelers. Delicious breakfasts are one of the Inn’s big attractions. There are over a dozen entrée choices plus fresh fruit, juices, freshly baked muffins, great coffee and a choice of teas. Yes, we do have guests who work their way through the menu. Our pet friendly rooms - five options – are incredibly popular. There’s plenty for canines to do in the local area too.

My husband and I booked a weekend at the Glynn House for the weekend of October 28th. At 299/night, we looked forward to visiting a section of New Hampshire we were unfamiliar with and spending a relaxing weekend in a luxurious inn. We chose the Glynn House because it's pet friendly and part of the "Distinguished Inns of North America Registry." The suite we stayed at was virtually without heat. We got up in the night and put sweaters on to keep warm. The thermostats were broken, apparently (or turned off?), and the 10'stretch of electric baseboard wasn't enough to heat the 3 rooms. The propane fireplace (complete with trash in it!) provided no ambient heat. I guess it's just supposed to be pretty. No heat in the bathroom, and the water temperature that night and the next morning can best be described as tepid. When I went over to the main inn at 7:30 a.m. Saturday to tell them we were checking out, having spent a miserable night, the innkeeper(Ingrid) was rude. She never apologized or offered to do anything to correct the situation. Her only response was, "I told you the thermostat was broken." If she'd told me before we left home, we would have gone elsewhere. A mini blind was missing, which she told us she'd replace while we were out that evening. She didn't - we had to hang a blanket in the window to get some privacy. This is a terrible place, with no attention to details. For 299/night, it's a sore disappointment. Go elsewhere!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Glynn House. The bed and breakfast was immaculate and very nicely appointed. The Inn Keepers were very cordial and relaxed. The breakfast and snacks offered were delicious.

We were fortunate to stay in the Roosevelt Deluxe Suite with our Bergamasco sheep dog. The four dog-friendly accommodations are located in a large home just behind the main Inn.The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was lovely, and the living room was cozy. We indulged in their chocolate covered strawberries and champagne- It was just perfect after the drive! If you are traveling with a pet, please note they are not allowed in the main Inn and will need to stay in your suite during breakfast.

The Glynn House is very centrally located and offered us the opportunity for hiking around the local area including the Merrimack River Floodplain Forest which was just beautiful. We also, at the suggestion of the Inn Keeper, book a trip and canoed down the Pemi River. Of important note- if you are seeking a "dog-friendly" vacation, the local restaurants, even though they may claim to be pet friendly on the internet, do not allow pets to come in. Very unfortunate. All in all, we did have a wonderful time and look forward to making this a yearly experience.

Thanks Kelly for taking the time to share your experience at the Glynn House with other travelers. Kelly’s review ‘headline’ nicely captures the atmosphere many of our guests seek – romantic and pet friendly. The Roosevelt Suite is particularly spacious. The stone fireplace, canopy bed and larger double whirlpool bed provide nice romantic touches. Chocolate strawberries and champagne –nice way to celebrate a romantic getaway, just please try to give us 48 hours notice.

My wife and I stayed at the Glynn house with our 4 month old puppy, Brewster, for our anniversary getaway and we would go back in a heartbeat. The inn is conveniently located right off route 3, minutes from route 93. It’s a short drive to Squam Lake and a bit further away from Winnipesaukee. Glenn, the owner, gave us a map and recommended some fun day trips to do with our puppy.

The room was excellent. Clean and spacious. They even set up a small day bed for Brewster which he loved! The room had a jacuzzi tub and separate shower, and also had a flat screen TV with Direct TV. It was great to have that country B&B feel, but to also watch a little TV before going to bed each night!

The food is amazing. They offer one sweet and one savory breakfast option, so my wife and I got one of each and split them. I got an omelet with fresh tomatoes and goat cheese while my wife got the ricotta stuffed French toast. I couldn't get over how delicious each one was. I was so sad that we had to leave a little early on our last day because we missed Ingrid's (the chef) specialty, eggs benedict! They also serve wine and hors d'oeuvres everyday between 530 and 630, which serves as a great way to meet other guests and the inn keepers.

Above all, the service is what sets this place apart. The inn keepers are a husband, wife, daughter, and Miles (their dog). This family is very well travelled and is great conversationalists. My wife and I loved going to their "happy hour" just to spend more time with the family. Not to mention they loved our dog (and vice versa of course). Brewster was showered with treats and affection and he loved every minute of it.

All and all this place is great. Whether you're looking for a summer retreat to the lakes or a winter ski vacation, put this place on top of your accommodation lists. We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Pet Friendly!

A belated thanks to our guests from Boston for share their experience at the Glynn House Inn with other travelers. Our location really is incredibly convenient for those living in the Northeastern part of America or Quebec – two hours from Boston, three hours from Providence, three plus hours from Montreal, four hours from Hartford and five plus hours from New York City. Our breakfast menu has expanded during the past two years. Guests now have 14 entrée choices each morning – all quite delicious. The Inn now has five pet friendly rooms including a wonderful self-catering apartment named after President Lincoln.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in the Jefferson Suite on the third (top) floor. It was a wonderful experience. A very large room and what seemed to be a brand new (and very expensive) mattress on the bed.

Every morning there was a choice of two breakfast items and they never duplicated. Glenn, the owner, went out of his way to make recommendations based on our interests and has a supply of discounted tickets to most attractions.

We peeped in the other rooms and all of them looked inviting. Ashland itself is a charming place, and gives a wonderful flavor of true New England. (Final note: we stayed there two days before the hurricane it. I called them to make sure they were OK and they reported that the inn was unaffected by the storm.)
