“Friendly.. but ..”
Reviewed July 10, 2012 via mobile

My husband and I went to Sandy Point today for lunch based on the huge positive reviews on this website. We got there around 1pm and found the dining room just about empty.. we actually weren't sure they were open. But we were greeted by a waitress within a couple minutes and offered our choice of table. While going through the first couple dining areas, an odd/funky (old?!) smell permeated the rooms.. that was less than desirable.. neither of us could put our finger on the smell, but it left a negative memory in our minds.

Despite the name of the restaurant, it is not located on a "point" that we could see.. (we were hoping for lakefront or lake view.. or maybe open air seating.. ) That aside, the menu is quite complete.. lots to choose from.. and wide price range. Since we were there for a light lunch, I had a Texas Burger with fries.. my husband ordered Quesadillas. Service was prompt and friendly. My burger was DELICIOUS as were the fries.. My husband's quesadillas were made with cheese, tomato and bacon filling.. all VERY good! We were too full for dessert, but the menu had some tempting offerings.

Our bill was very affordable..

And, if it wasn't for the odd smell, we'd go back again soon.. but.. that would have to be considered..

Thank Dede C

“We only get one thing but it's the best!”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

We happened upon Sandy Point Restaurant during our stay in Alton Bay a couple of years ago. At that time, we had the Stuffed Baked Lobster and LOVED it. We craved it for years and we finally made it back to Alton to have it again. This time we had the King Bake Stuffed Lobster (it may be new). It's a lobster stuffed with a delicious stuffing filled with lobster claw meat and shrimp. It is sooooo good. We ate there twice because we couldn't get enough of it! The restaurant isn't anything fancy.
I can only talk about the King Baked Stuff Lobster because I haven't had anything else there but it's worth talking about!

“Wonderful Fried Whole-bellies”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

This place is still in the 70's when it comes to atmosphere but the food was very good. The whole-belly clams were great! the crab cakes were also fairly good. The beers were a bit pricey but total for dinner was ffair.

“Always Fresh”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

This is a seasonal restaurant located in Alton NH on route 11. They open for mothers day and close in October, I believe. There seafood/fish is as good and fresh as if it was just caught and cooked. They also do prime rib and steak and other dishes - all good. Portions are large with lots of varieties. They specialize in lobsters. Very friendly atmosphere and prices are very reasonable. Good idea to call for reservations on the weekends. Well worth the wait. Its a favorite spot for locals and "flat landers" alike.
