“One of the Best I've stayed in”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

This is a real gem of a hotel. I was a regional tourist board director and have lots of hotel experience and this is one of the best I have experienced. The Furian is an object lesson in how to run a hotel and gain great customer satisfaction. We had the top floor suite (Room 41) and it was well worth the small extra cost. Really well appointed and comfortable. Smiling, friendly and helpful staff, great food in a very professionally run restaurant. A wonderful expirience that we will certainly repeat. Just a pity that the weather was so bad, we didn't get to try the lakeside garden but we will next time, If they could organise good weather it would be a world beater!

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a suite or junior suite. Well worth it.

We stayed at the Furian for a week at the beginning of September and had a wonderful time. Undoubtedly the incredible weather helped as on the occassional times we were not out seeing the fabulous scenery we could sunbathe in the hotels private lakeside garden (with bar). The food is of a good, though not exceptional standard bur withbonly 19 rooms they have a brilliant system for ordering the evening meal. The hotel is spotless and the rooms and public areas have been finished to a very high standard indeed.
However what made the stay special was the staff. The girls serving dinner and service throughout the day were fantastic, amongst the best I've experienced anywhere to be honest, and are a credit to the the owners. For that reason more than any other I would definitely visit the Furian in the future.

We have just come back from a 11 day stay at this beautiful hotel. It is 4star but should have 5. We booked a junior suite it was much better than expected, the view was amazing. There was maid service every day, clean towels everyday. The whole hotel was very clean.
Food well were to start, breakfast was buffet consisting of cerels, fresh bread, cheeses, hams, salamis, yoghurts, fresh friut salad, fresh fruit, eggs and bacon and toast if you wanted. Friut juices and tea and coffee.
After noon tea was cake and tea or coffee.
Dinner, well 4 courses delicious food and everyday different. You choose your evening meal at breakfast which was fine.
The service from the girls in the restaurant was brilliant, what ever you asked for or needed they got for you and always with a smile and a phase of 'your welcome'
The weather was not great but they provided umbrellas for the guest to use.
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary whilst we were there and we were made to feel so special. Spoilt rotten with champagne cake chocolates and flowers.
The area is a great area to explore and the bus and train service is brill, if you let the girls on reception know where you want to go they print off bus and train timetables for you and mark them so it is really easy to know connection times.
The owners where away on holiday but the staff where so attentive and lovely they are a blessing and represented the owners well.
If you are thinking of going to Austria st wolfgang book for the furian you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: We had room 34 junior suite wonderful views across the lake, mountains and village

Just returned from 12 days at the Furian. We had a room facing the back of the hotel which was really quiet and quite large. We had a large round bed which could have slept 4. The girls who served the meals and on reception were very pleasant and helpful. The meals were very good and as I am coeliac I had to have gluten free but they catered for this very well, for which I thank them. The weather was terrible, apart from about 4 days and it would have been nice to have had somewhere to sit apart from our room. On the last day we had to leave the room at 11.00 but our transport didn't pick us up until 4.00 pm. We had to go out in the pouring rain to kill time, even sitting in the church as it was the only dry place. Mr & Mrs Furian were there for a couple of days at the beginning but nowhere to be seen for the rest of our stay. Unfortunately, apart from about 3 days we couldn't make use of the large balcony/ Going when we did it was obviously the end of the summer season in St Wolfgang. Our Inghams rep, Stephen was very good. I would definitely stay at the Furian again (but earlier in the season).

Room Tip: We had a room at the back on 3rd floor facing the back but it was quiet and large. Unfortunately th...

We returned from the Furian a week ago after spending 2 weeks there and had a room overlooking the lake. The food was excellent, and we particularly loved the wide choice available for breakfast. All the hotel staff were amazing - possibly the best we have come across - nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the centre of St. Wolfgang and the hotel's private lakeside space is just a few minutes from the hotel and is a really relaxing place to be. Drinks and snacks are available for a very reasonable price. Mr Mrs Furian were ever helpful and always there to look after their guests. A big thank you to Mrs Furian who came to the rescue when a dentist was needed urgently - I can never thank you enough. We have no hesitation in recommending the Furian to other travellers. We had lovely weather during our stay but in the event that the weather had not been good a lounge would have been very welcome where guests could relax . We expected, for some reason, that British guests might have been in the minority which was definitely not the case. So many lovely guests we particulary remember Doreen and David and a couple from Salford. There was also Ron with his wife and son from the USA and so many more. We read all the reviews about the hotel before we chose the Furian and were definitely not disappointed.

Room Tip: We had room 24 overlooking the lake and had a very sunny balcony. The bathroom wa a little on the s...

We recently spent two weeks at the Furian. The owners Herr and Frau Furian are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. All of their staff from the young ladies in the dining room to reception and the chambermaids are again all very friendly. Our room was a large corner room with a large bathroom,a bedroom with a double bed and a single bed and a hall area with adequate wardrobe space and a safe. The breakfast is self service(apart from tea/coffee),with plenty of selection of cold breads/yoghurts/fruit/cheese/cold meats and a small hot selection of german bacon and scrambled eggs. The locally produced ewes milk yoghurts were the nicest I have tasted. At breakfast you were given a menu to choose your evening meal. There is a selection of two starters, mains and puddings plus alternatives such as vegetarian etc were available on request.Thankfully they did include quite a number of Austrian specialities. The quality of the food was mostly very good including locally caught fish and steak dishes, but one night I was quite disappointed as one of the main courses was omelette, considering the cost of the food in the hotel,I would have expected something a little more adventurous.Having said that,I did mostly enjoy the food. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the centre of St Wolfgang and convenient for the Cog Railway and a lake taxi-boat station. There are many walks available in the area and paths are graded according to ability. As the hotel is not situated on the lake side ,they do have a Lakeside area which is situated about 5mins away, across the road from the Railway station and the mini golf course. The Lakeside area contains a grassed area on the lake, with loungers and a bar area.
The Hotel is visited by the Thomson/Crystal reps and trips can be booked with them to the main attractions, but we thought they were quite expensive, although very good. The holiday and the hotel were very good, although the concensus amongst other guests is that the hotel does really need a guest lounge as after dinner you either have to go out or back to your room and it would be nice to chat after your meal and or have an area to sit and read. The hotel has free WiFi,but the signal strength does vary depending where you are in the hotel.
We did meet some very nice people in the hotel, including Margaret and Ray and Ann and her husband from Manchester and the lovely two scottish ladies from Glasgow. We did do a lot in the fortnight and hopefully may return one day to this lovely hotel.

The hotel is generally good, but we need to understand the specifics of the place. The beaches of the hotel to go 6-7 minutes. Sun beds and towels, if not book in the morning was not enough, the toilet on the beach there. Sent somewhere in public. But almost all the beaches of the other hotels that do not go directly to the lake is no better. So it's little things, because around the amazing nature, a wonderful town, a lot of fun. The water was at least 22 g., Ok for us, very clean. A busy water traffic, so hard to swim a distance. The hotel itself, the service, the food is at a very good level.

Room Tip: Upper floors are quieter
