My wife and I stayed at this Hotel first week in Feb 2013. It is certainly among the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Service was always excellent. The owners and all of the staff, apart from being very friendly, were always keen to help in any way to make our holiday better and completely knowledgeable about the local area, places to visit, etc. Nothing was too much trouble, such a pleasant change from what appears to be "the norm" these days. Food was also excellent offering a very varied menu each night with a decent choice at breakfast. All of this made for a most comfortable and enjoyable holiday experience. Highly recommended. jgeegeNottm

My husband and I went to the Furian Hotel for the New Year 2013. What a great hotel. We had a junior suite which even included a small kitchen, the room was very comfortable and nipping clean. The staff could not have done more for us, the service was excellent. The owners were so friendly and helpful The food was fantastic and our New Years eve meal was outstanding. We were so impressed we have already booked up again to go in August.

Arr. on 29/12/2012 from London for 1 week, 2 adults & 2 child (9 &12). The owners (Teddy & Michaela Furian) could not have done more for us during our stay. The Service is excellent, the food is outstanding (we were Half Board) and the Ski Bus stop outside the hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Hotel has 19 rooms and a ski room but does not have a bar, pool, sauna/steam room but deserves it's 4+ star rating. It caters for both Summer & Winter guests.

St. Wolfgang is a beautiful town and although primarily a Summer Holiday Resort centred on the lake, it is Magical at Christmas. The Hotel Furian is well placed, a few minutes walk from the Market Place (Centre of Town), there are many shops, Hotels & Bars. We went to Market Square for the outside New Years Eve celebrations which were great.

There is a Ski Bus to either Postalm (about 45 mins) or Gosau (90 mins). Postalm offers 16 slopes, covered by 12 lifts and is ideal for beginners and lower intermediates (1 x black, 2 x red). Gosau is part of the Dachstein West area and is for intermediates to advanced.

We travelled through Thompson Holidays, Crystal Ski looked after us in the resort, both Thompson & Crystal were excellent. Ski hire from Pro-Travel in St. Wolfgang (though Crystal) was excellent (I changed boots 2 twice - no problem). Ski School at Postalm (booked through Crystal) was excellent

In summary, St. Wolfgang was a great base for our ski holiday. Postalm was ideal for us for 6 days skiing (beginner to intermediate). The Hotel Furian was excellent (10/10), you will not get better service anywhere, they are all so warm and friendly. Plenty to do for the family, we would do it again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Rooms with a balcony have a "partial" lake view. If a room does not have a balcony, it wi...

Stayed at this hotel a while ago but just got round to reviewing this hotel. It deserves 5* all the way.

We started our holiday with a hugh delay at the airport which was awful, but from the moment we landed in austria the heaven began. We landed close to 11.30pm straight away we had our own personally mini bus transfer arranged by the hotel due to our delay. What a start just wonderful and alreay forgot about the gatwick horror show. Then we were showed to our room, well say room but it was more like a flat. It was massive clean and a wonderful view of the town and the lake. Then the second great touch, by now was around 12pm and they had made us dinner and taken it to our room along with drinks.

From then it was just great day by day. Food great and the onwers were just wonderful, chatty and always there if you needed them.

Would recommend this place to everyone, its a must stay if in the area on a sking trip.

We stayed at Hotel Furian for a week in July and had particularly chosen this hotel as the reviews online and on tripadvisor were very complimentory. We travelled with 70 year old Mother-in-Law who was a bit anxious that she could not make herself understood as she does not speak any German. To alleviate her fears I had send a quick email to the hotel before our arrival and really needn't have worried. All staff spoke very good English (as well as French and Italian) and really looked after her when she came down to meals slightly before us. Staff were always bvery helpful and friendly and it was a very personal service. The rooms were nice and spacious and the views from the balcony overlooking the lake and mountains just stunning. Food was very good as well and bar prices not over the top. We were extremely lucky with the weather and had most breakfasts and evening meals outside on the terrace, making you realise how much we miss doing this in the UK.I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone - if you want good service, nice food and just a relaxinh holiday and this is the place to stay.
From the hotel it was only a short walk into town or down to the lakeside where the hotel has a small private beach. Public transport in Austria is easy and affordable and we did a few day trips to Bad Ischl and Salzburg by bus - I'd recommend this as well (rather booking an organised tour through your tour operator at twice the cost) Also, taking the boats across the lakes was just ever so relaxing and a beautiful wa y of enjoying the scenery.

My husband and I spent a week at this lovely small hotel at the end of the summer season. The owner and his wife were ever present and could not have been more helpful, obviously taking great pride in the many improvements that they had made and planned to make. Their staff are extremely well trained, at all times courteous, friendly and smiling with nothing being too much trouble. Our room, on the corner of the hotel on the second floor was spotlessly clean, very comfortable with a private balcony and a partial lake view. The storage and wardrobe facilities were more than sufficient and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. All meals were beautifully served and presented but on on a couple of occasions it would have been good to have had a third choice of main course for the evening meal. However the staff were always prepared to provide an omelette or as on one occasion for us, Wiener Schnitzel! Maybe it's just a case of asking. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms so if you like a drink on waking or before going to bed take a kettle etc. with you! As this is only a small hotel it became very easy to socialise with other guests at meal times but a small lounge would have been very useful for chilly evenings that could not be spent on the terrace. We could thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in this beautiful part of Austria.
