This is a lovely large apartment right in the centre of the village and just a minute's walk to the lake. We first visited the apartment in January 2011 and returned in May - and will be back for the Christmas markets in Nov/Dec.
We found the apartment had everything we needed and then some; although the kitchen is on the small side, everything was provided; however, if you decide to have a night off from cooking, there are some lovely places to eat close by, all serving good (reasonably priced) food.
Although you can hire a car, we don't bother and use the buses/ferries to get about.
We usually fly into Munich buy a Bayern Ticket (approx €29 and covers up to 5 people), at the airport train station, Change at Munich Ost and the train takes you into Salzburg. Come out of the train station and the bus station is directly across the road - from where you can catch the bus to St Wolfgang.
We would just mention that, as the apartment is on the first floor, there are about 10 steps from the front door to the apartment door but these aren't too steep.

This apartment is easily acessable from salzburg by bus or hire car, or munich by hire car, The owner supplies clear and concise details of just how to find the property,
The apartment is very clean and well furnished, the kitchen is small but has everything you need, the lady who lives next door holds the key and she meets you on arrival and is very helpful.
This was our 4th stay in this apartment and the 1st in summer, we usually stay here in february and use the apartment as a base to travel to the many ski areas in the area, we have been to St Wolfgang for the last 9 years and still seem to find a new place to ski within an hours drive every year, such is the choice of skiing in the area, if you dont want to drive free buses pick you up in the market place which is aproximatly 100 metres from the apartments front door, and take you to the postalm, an amazing journey up the mountain side which is beautiful but not for the faint hearted (must be seen to be beleived) buses also go to gosau a large ski area with about 6 villages linked.
Our 1st visit to St Wolfgang in summer this May was to discover the place without snow and we were not disapointed, this place is just as beautiful in summer as in winter, no shortage of things to do Scharfburg cog railway a must, a trip to Halstatt and the salt mines, krippenstein caves and 5 finger view point are stunning, the lake has water sports or boat trips, or walking galore and at the end of the day plenty of restaurants, cake shops and bars to chill out in.
Do not hesitate treat yourself to a stay in this great apartment, in this great location.
