We recently stayed here again (5th year in a row). The reviews are correct. The resort is in badly need of updating, but we don't mind it. Part of the charm I guess. We did have a major problem this year. Air conditioning wasn't working...they were booked for the weekend, but were able to move us into another room (king suite!). New this year - Mini golf, paddleboats, canoes are now FREE. Although they do charge a 'resort fee' of $25 on your bill. Can't remember if we were charged this fee previous stays...

Room Tip: If you have kids, stay in the 'family room'. Bunk beds and a King sized bed (in aseperate...

If my only complaint was that the rooms were outdated, I would leave at least an 'average' review here. Our room was down right nasty. First thing I noticed was water stains on the ceiling. Looks like black mold growing in the cracks in the cement ceiling as well. Cobwebs in the room, peeling wallpaper in the bathroom area, and some mystery 'goo' on the floor and on the wool blankets on both beds.
The food was just fine - overpriced a little, but with it being inside the resort I didn't think it was outrageous.
The Rafters lounge was 'sticky'. Sat in a chair and kept feeling like my arm was sticking to it.
This place could be great, if they would put some money back into the rooms and amenities. But as it sits right now, I'm not sure if we'll return unless absolutely necessary.

We liked that there are lots of amenities including indoor & outdoor pool, water park, beach, two different dining options and found the serving staff to be super helpful. Although the water park is a little rundown in sections, the kids had a blast there and we were impressed with the lifeguards.

We thought the rooms and hallways of the resort were dark, rundown, and not very clean. Our room had barely any lighting, clock didn't work, toilet had constant condensation, bathroom fan didn't work, and we saw trash under our bed from previous occupants. Our kids had a lot of fun at the waterpark and beach but the beach was kind of gross- not kept up well with tons of goose poop. The waterpark locker rooms were disgusting. Worst of all, our 3 children all got rashes from the outdoor pool. The pool was cloudy with chemicals and had a funny taste and our kids got miserable rashes. This has never happened to our kids in any other swimming pool (and they take lessons all year). In talking with other parents at the water park (water was ok there) all of our kids had rashes. We all complained at some point and were thanked for telling them but they didn't seem overly concerned or offer any type of discount or apology. They did finally end up closing the pool the next day but my kids still have rashes they are recovering from, so that was upsetting as a parent. Bottom line is that this resort was probably amazing 10-15 years ago but it is really rundown now and we won't return.

I'm sorry to read of your disappointing stay at Arrowwood Resort. I also would like to apologize for the children's pool rashes. Thank you again for letting us know about the issue. We do take our pool chemistry readings several times throughout the day and ensure that we are operating within the proper safety guidelines and will take immediate steps to correct. If not safe, we will immediately close the pools until they are safe to reopen.
We would like the chance to make this up to you and your family. Please give me a call at 320-762-1124 and ask for the general manager.
Thank you again for the feedback!

I don't know what is with all the hate but we loved this place. The rooms were a bit outdated but nothing we couldn't handle. Pretty true to a standard hotel room. My 7 year old LOVED the water park. He loved the lily pads and the slides. The lifeguards were attentive. The water park could use a face lift and a deep clean. Regardless we had a blast. We were shocked about the new resort fee but in the scheme of things it was cheaper to us to have the marina boats and the putting coarse included with the fee rather that paying an extra $10 for each use. The kids had a blast in the paddle boats and the boys at the marina were very helpful. We had no problem with the staff as we have seen in other reviews. We found them to be rather pleasant. Very Minnesota nice. We didn't eat much at the resort because we were visiting family but the breakfast buffet was good. Overall I think we will be coming back.

We paid for the king executive suite for a family reunion and the room was outdated, mold was on the ceiling,, plumbing issues on the 5th floor with a faucet that leaked that warranted a towel on the sink at all times as well as having to hold the handle to the toilet for a minute or more due to pressure issues. It wouldn’t have been worth $75.00 let alone the over $200.00 paid per night. Young blonde housekeeper was rude when I opened the door when she knocked. Not the experience I expected. Just be warned

Room tip: Choose wisely and don’t choose this hotel.

We, like others stayed for the night for the State Trap Shooting event. Rooms are nice sized, but boy, could they use some updates! Seems to be dating back to 70's to 80's decor. The fridge had what appeared to be mold in it and hadn't been wiped down - food stains left in it. The desk chair had holes worn in it from rubbing on the desk. The bedspreads really looked like they hadn't been washed for quite some time. The closet doors were huge and off-track - took a while for us to fix them and put them on-track to open them. It also took about a solid 10 minutes to get hot water into the shower - I had resorted to just braving it and taking a colder shower, but warm water finally came through.
Had dinner at the Lake Restaurant - guessing they maybe had 1 cook in the kitchen. It took an hour plus to get our food - one of our group had a salad with dinner and that took at least 45 minutes to come out. The restaurant was not that busy and the waitress offered no 'I'm sorry, the kitchen is backed up...' only 'we just got really busy here' under her breath when we finally asked how much longer...ummm, no more busy than when we first got there...lots of empty tables. Went to try to track down the Manager/Host guy that was seating people, but he had disappeared from the scene. The food was good when it was finally served, but we could have gone out and come back by the time we finally got our meal. For a Saturday night at a resort, one would think they would be much better prepared!!
Outside bar was nice, but it closed early - probably around 7-8:00 - again, a Saturday night at a resort and the bar is closed?? There was an inside bar, but the music/noise level didn't allow for much conversation.
Overall, grounds were nice, hotel is lacking any luster/appeal, would have been very upset if we had actually not had a discount and paid full price for any period of vacation. Absolutely not worth the full price!!
