“unexpected good wine”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

Carlos Creek is establishing itself as a very creditable winery offering many drinkable varieties of both white and red including its signature Minnesota Nice series with appropriate names like Lake Wobegon White and Hot Dish Red which advises the wine "drinks well with leftovers". In addition to several sweet fruit wines, Carlos Creek is also serving dry reds made from Marquette and Frontenac grapes, grown right at the vineyard and adaptable to the cold Minnesota winters.
The winery's Minnesota Nice Grill also offers appetizers, sandwiches, and more on weekends.

“Grape Stomp”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

I highly recommend adding the Carlos Creek Winery "Grape Stomp" to your fall plans. We have gone the last 3 years and always had an enjoyable time. My only complaint would be that we have also participated in the stomping contest and won our heat 2 of the last 3 years and each time they have been out of the winning t-shirts. If you go bring lots of cash. Nothing is cheap but well worth it. Also, leave the kids at home. This is a great couples or friends day but not a family outing.

“Great Winery and Event (7th annual Grape Stomp)”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

We drove up to Alexandria, MN for this event, it was raining but they had it well organized and still lots of fun. Tasted lots of wine, listened to live music, and enjoyed the many vendors with food and crafts. Beautiful countryside and enjoyed the event.

“Very crowded”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

The place was very crowded, we were unable to find a handicapped parking spot and the "security" at the front was of no help, they just stood their yapping to each other....really, security at a winery?
The tasting bar was also very packed, we had trouble finding a spot to enjoy our tastings. Once we "bellied-up" our gal was very fun and helpful, however others kept butting into our conversations. It's nice to stay with the same person - they know what you like and don't like. The others didm;t seem to care.
As we enjoyed our chosen glass of wine outside we were invited to go one a horse pulled wagon ride through the vineyards. It was fun.

Hello,
Thank you for your review. Labor Day weekend (when you visited the winery) was indeed very busy at Carlos Creek. Our handicapped parking spaces are quickly claimed on such Holiday weekends. I am dismayed that you found our security staff was not helpful. Even on busy weekends, all staff is instructed to provide exemplary customer service and this will be addressed. Your surprise at seeing security staff at a winery is understandable, but the explanation is that our security staff is hired for the weddings we host on-site each weekend. We require security for any event that includes a dance of over 100 people.

I am glad you found your server fun and helpful and that you found a wine that you enjoyed. I am glad that you enjoyed the free vineyard tour aboard our horse drawn wagon. We will offer these tours again during our Applefest on October 19th. I hope you make a return trip to our winery and that we leave you with a better impression of Carlos Creek Winery. You have my assurances that providing customers with a positive experience is always our highest concern.

We are glad you agree that Carlos Creek is a GREAT spot for a wedding. We host them often in the Summer. There is something magical about sitting on our wine patio, listening to live music, enjoying a bottle of your favorite Carlos Creek wines and then have a newly married bride and groom stroll by. We feel honored to be a part of such an important day.
