Two friends and I spent the weekend in Alexiandria. I had called the local visiter center for some lodging advice. The last thing they suggested was to make sure we stopped at the wine bar.

We did and it was so much fun. The decor is inviting and clean. They had a band playing on Friday night. It was fun listening to them.

This is a great place to have a glass of wine or ale visit with friends. We did not try the food but noticed some people eating.

This is a great place to hang out and have a glass of wine. Good food fabulous atmosphere. The service could use an upgrade, not as friendly as I would expect (& we've been here many times). Deinately upscale for the area!

Sixth Avenue Wine & Ale is a fantastic wine and ale bar located in the heart of Alexandria, Minnesota's Historic Downtown District.

They have a stellar food menu created by Le Cordon Bleu trained Chef Matthew Jensen and a great wine list, as well as an extensive selection of beers from around the world. The ambiance is classy bistro, with a fireplace, relaxing couches, free wi-fi, and live music on Thursdays and some Saturdays. They also host special reservation-only wine or beer themed dinners on a regular basis. Whenever I bring family and friends from out of town to Sixth Avenue they just rave about it - it's very cosmopolitan and would be on par with any great wine and ale bar in any large city.

Definitely something worth checking out if you're looking for a nice night out in Alex.
