We stopped here heading to the U.P. The price was good and the room was basic, but the bed was comfortable-- we were able to get a king size bed which is something of a rarity in small independent motels-- and everything was clean. The town is very small and it is a very short walk to a restaurant or bar.
Clear Lake state park is nearby as are several state forest campgrounds.

If you need a clean reasonable spot to spend the night in northern Michigan the Atlanta Motel fits the bill. The rooms are right out of the fifties and ours was decorated like an old filling station. The owners were very accomodating and could not have been nicer. There is a great spot for breakfast right down the street...give both of them a try !

Overall, our stay was very nice. The owners are some of the nicest people in town. The motel is located within walking distance to everything in the town. The room smelled a little like stale cigarette smoke, but it wasn't unbearable. Also, they said that the beds were queens, but they were more like a double. The rooms were very clean and so were the linens. The shower was kinda small, but very clean. I would definitely stay here again, especially at $40 a night.

I truely felt as i was spending time with my own family here... The owners, Phil & Marva made me feel as if i was part of their own family (By name...) This is how me and my family felt in our family felt with our get away to Atlanta, Michigan to see nature. This was our family get away from Detroit City life that i work in. We felt so Welcomed from our "my" city work life for our family back to nature get away. Hotel is so very clean and gave us family time. For hunting as a group or just getting back to nature to drive out and see some Elk, Deer herds or Turkey herds or just a family get away to nature. This is the place to stay in town.. The larger rooms are so family and pet friendly.. And it's right down town Atlanta, Michigan- Walking distance from the park for children and less than 2 blocks from the local pubs for me and mine.... Best get away in the "ELK CAPITAL of MICHIGAN". couple and family get away from work life... JIM SHELLY.

Room Tip: This is the best priced stay in Atlanta, Michigan with a standard room or a family or group Kitchene...

We stayed here Fri and Sat night. Nothing fancy but we just needed a place to keep our stuff and get a good nights rest. Well, we did. We went up north to get away and drive thru the woods and possibly see elk. (we didn't) The hotel is right in the middle of the quaint town of Atlanta. Walking distance to everything. The room was very clean. We had a king bed and it was very comfortable. Older hotel but very clean and simple. Room had king bed, dresser, microwave, fridge, swivel chair, lamp table, flat screen tv w/ dish tv. Bathroom was small but very clean. small shower, sink, throne. mirror, necessities, nice towels. We were warm throughout the night and I think the walls are soundproof because we didn't hear our neighbors or traffic or the winter storm blowing outside. The owners are very nice. They also own the ELK CROSSING CAFE across the street which served very good food and gave great hometown service. Great food and great prices. I was very happy with this hotel and will definately go back. The room only cost some 50 bucks and was very "up northy" Very clean but if you want fancy this won't be the place for you. It's more homelike. If you want a real treat....right across from the elk in the glass case as you enter town, there is a tiny bakery called The Baklava Shop. OMG! Delicious treats inside. A MUST stop.

We make the Atlanta Motel a "MUST" stay to branch out and visit Northern Michigaln. Atlanta is the Elk capital of Mi. and the Atlanta Motel is right in the middle of great Elk viewing territory. We have spent many hours driving through back roads, viewing and taking pictures. Relaxation just doesn't get any better. The owners have just opened up a little resturant this past month. Can't wait to post my review.

Room Tip: Stop at the DNR just North of town and get a map of the best elk viewing locations

We stayed in the Atlanta Motel this month for one night. For $52 in a tiny town we were hoping at best to find it clean and a good bed. It was better. The room was bigger than expected and tastefully decorated. It had a 3 foot tall fridge, a microwave, coffee maker and a small flat-screen TV. There was ceramic tile in the small shower only style bathroom and very clean. The queen bed was very supportive and comfortable. We did not find the shower too hot. It was walking distance to shops and restaurants and the owner was very accommodating and helpful. We could have gone to a bonfire on the property in the evening if we had wished.

Room Tip: We didn't look at any other rooms or cabins.
