Nice festivities for 2013 New Year's Eve but getting out was a pain. We had to walk back to hotel (1 hour) in bitterly cold weather.

Love walking around here. Unique shops, along with the staples like Starbucks. Comic book store, tshirt store, cherry product store, etc. A few parking garages nearby. Seen a cool multi-person bike rooming the streets during the summer one time.

Parking and traffic can be a pain to deal with but once you navigate that its well worth going down there. There are lots of different types of restaurants to choose from and many different shops to browse through. Some stuff can be pricey as it is Ann Arbor. You will also get the chance to view many unique looking people.

If you're a book lover, this is the place to visit. Unlike many bookstores, which intimidate upon first encounter, the openness of Literati beckons passersby to come in and browse. It's hard to explain what, precisely, makes it such an inviting place. Is it the space to wander? The friendly staff? Or the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously? I enjoyed the fact that I could buy T-shirts with the covers of my favorite books printed on them, as well as books. But beware: it's easy to get waylaid here for much longer than you expected. Really, one of the nicest bookstores I've ever visited. Well worth stopping by if you're in the area.

What a wonderful family owned bookstore! I love its coziness, the friendly staff, and the fun whimsical "stuff" you find in various places. Leave the owners a message with Scrabble tiles you find on a table. Type a message on one of the many vintage typewriters. Just fun!
