Ann Arbor Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #1 of 13 Ann Arbor B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 3, 2013

The Ann Arbor Bed and Breakfast is a place I would consider "like no place else on earth". Maybe that's a bit biased, but I love the place. There are many reasons. For example, the owners of this inn put their LIVES into making certain that you have a comfortable, adorable, and stress-free stay. The tremendous comfort of the beds (THOSE BEDS!) the location, (to the University of Michigan and downtwn Ann Arbor) the amenities, (anything you need? just ask!) staff (amazing, charming, hard-working!) and general sense that I am embraced by the house proper in which the bed and breakfast is located are just some of the reasons we continue to go back and visit every year--twice a year, if we can.

Breakfast is delicious, the place is super clean, the beds are amazingly luxurious, and the many and various antiques/toys and decor are superb, fun, and just quirky enough. Spacious and full of light, go to Ann Arbor Bed and Breakfast TODAY, or, at least, as soon as you can.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are amazing, but Maine Woods and Laguna Beach hold a place near and dear to my hear...

The staff felt like friends by the time we left the inn - the whimsy of the place is truly unique, and the care given by all the folks there is outstanding. It feels like a family in all the best ways (great food, laughing staff asking each other how they are, cozy fireplace, comfy rooms) but it is professional as well (no lack of privacy, etc, like in some B&Bs). I especially appreciated the extra attention for our gluten-free needs. We walked everywhere and loved every minute of it. Don't miss this place, but leave room for us - we'll be back often!

This bed and breakfast, which is on East Huron Street, is warm, comfortable and clean. The decor is kooky and fun. Although it isn't the most romantic B&B you'll stay at, it is inviting and homey. The place has the same warm kind of feel as the home of a grandmother who is eager to please her new grandchildren. There are fun and interesting little nic nacs placed everywhere. The kitchen and dining room are communal with selections of coffee, teas, cookies, snacks; and, fanned out on the kitchen table are several newspapers.

My wife and I always treat ourselves by staying here for the first night when we travel to Michigan to visit my family. We always come in right before a holiday, so the place is usually quiet with at most one or two other guests.

The location on East Huron is ideal if you want to be near the campus and walk around in the downtown. The several times we've stayed here the innkeeper has been college students or recently graduated college students. They have always been sweet and attentive. We'll likely be back. As I said, it's very comfortable and easy, just what I need after a 5 hour flight and before a zany, hectic holiday with the extended family.

The welcome of the whimsical antiques and charming innkeepers made the stay a total delight. Breakfast was a treat, different every day. The rooms each have an interesting theme, and are comfortable and clean. We did not want to leave. Bob and Pat are helpful and knowledgable about Ann Arbor to help one get around. Any closer to the University would be in a classroom! We walked everywhere easily. Felt like home, except someone else made a delicious breakfast each day, and had cookies and beverages out any time you wanted. I would recommend a stay here to anyone needing a quiet, pleasant ppace in Ann Arbor.

This is the best bed and breakfast experience I have ever had. If you become a guest in this establishment you will be hard pressed to find a reason not to come back. It was clean, well located and decorated in a quirky creative way (not rooms that could be anywhere). Bob and Pat were quite distinctive personalities who combined to make “the perfect host”. The younger staff were bright, cheerful and competent. The breakfasts were freshly made to your taste, plus the usual fresh fruit, cereals of all sorts, yogurt, bread from an excellent bakery, fine jams, every detail looked after. In addition, anytime I wanted a cold drink, coffee, tea, snack, whatever, I just popped down to their living room (it felt like my living room), said hello, and grabbed what I wanted, back to my room. None of this extra charge business, just part of the deal. Oh yes, the wi-fi was flawless and the handy house printer was useful. It was, and I am not exaggerating at all, like being home, or maybe at a relative's house. I might add that quite often the other guests were a nice spice to the visit. Did I mention the location right on the very edge of the campus? In fact, I actually cannot think of anything whatsoever that could be added. It really was a privilege to be a guest.

This is a quirky B&B with comfortable, air conditioned rooms, albeit small bathrooms. The patio off the kitchen was a lovely place to sit for breakfast even though the traffic was noisy. My husband slept late and most of the breakfast baked goods were gone before he got there, even though it was still within the stated breakfast hours. The off street covered parking is a treat. Pricey for the accommodations, but that is true most everywhere in Ann Arbor.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face the street in front of the Inn.

Funtastic place to stay. This was a quick getaway for us. Close to home, yet it seemed miles away from our hectic work environment. Jordan, our hostess, greeted us upon arrival and escorted us to the Ocean Suite. It had a private outdoor patio with a hot tub. The king size bed was super comfortable. We had to force ourselves to leave for dinner, as we were tempted to just "stay in" and order a pizza.
The suite was decorated with artistic fish on the walls and a sand bucket filled with hand towels. How creative! The tile in the wonderfully large shower even had tiles with fish imprinted on them.
The breakast on the sunny balcony was the best. Everything from fresh fruit, bagels, snickerdoodles, and even home made quiche was offered for breakfast. The coffee was perfect.
What a great start to a great day in a great city. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: From the rooms we peeked into, they all seemed great and unique.
