“Excellent decor but far from authentic Indian food”
Reviewed August 29, 2014 via mobile

Food is very far from any a u the Indian food I ve tasted ever in my lifetime.

Excellent decor and ambiance but it still can't fool any seasoned Indian taste bud.

Looks like a favourite joint for non Indians though....

....but with not many choices in Ann Arbor an Indian might have to step in for their Dinner or lunch time..to make the best of both the worlds. ..

“Indian Food needs improvement”
Reviewed July 9, 2014

This being the oldest restaurant in Ann Arbor , we visited this restaurant with great expectations . But was let down by the food quality and cleanliness . Service was very prompt and were served hot rotis. But the quality of tandoori chicken and curry one needs improvement.

“Indian food with flavor”
Reviewed June 12, 2014

We used to go for Indian food close to home, but our favorite Indian restaurant closed. None of the others are worth eating at. However we recently traveled to Ann Arbor Michigan and ate at the Raj Rani for a buffet lunch. The food had flavor. The yogurt bread was great and different. The other selections on the buffet were pretty good. Next time I travel to Ann Arbor from my home in California I will eat here again

“awful food poor service”
Reviewed December 23, 2013

We went to dinner on a quiet Sunday night. The waiter was nice at first, but then disappeared never to come back. We received our dinner and it was positively the worst Indian food we have ever had. Everything tasted like they had mixed vinegar into it. The silverware was dirty too. When we tried to get someone to help us, I had to walk to the kitchen and the waitress on duty got upset. She was then upset we asked for boxes. Top it off, they decided to vacuum while we sat there and didn't seem to care that it was disturbing everyone. There are much better choices locally.

“Still the best”
Reviewed October 22, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Raja Rani is the oldest Indian restaurant in Ann Arbor. It's also consistently the best. I eat here regularly. The veggie samosas are by far the best in town. I am not a vegetarian but I almost always order the veggie entrees at Raja Rani- they are just that good.
