Besides the Espresso Royale, there wasn't really a nice cafe with moderately nice bakery/food. Excellent place to hang out, loved the mocha. Not so impressed by the Cardamom rose latte. Had the florentine breakfast sandwich, delicious homemade pesto. Must visit, with nice airy environment, antique looking furniture. Like every other place in AA, a bit pricey and sometimes feel like it is too quite in the cafe. Liked it.

We have visited the songbird cafe about a half a dozen times since opening. We have primarily sampled their sandwiches and baked goods. Their sandwiches sound tasty and seem to use quality ingredients but the value is a little lacking. We put up with it because of its unique flavorings and obvous care in preparing the food. However, over our last couple of visits a noticeable drop in the qualify of the food has occured. When you trade on high quality ingredients prepared with care... once that care starts to slip.. you start seeming very ordinary. Service has always been exemplary.

We popped in for a coffee one afternoon. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, and the open plan of the cafe plus the big windows, makes for a good atmosphere and buzz.

There were plenty of other people in there, some of them obviously having business meetings. I liked that there was plenty of space between the tables so that you could get some degree of privacy with your conversation and not overhear others.

I'd prefer this place over larger chain coffee places any day.

In a word, unique. Very creative and delicious food, especially the sandwiches. Also, a great place for coffee and late afternoon getting-work-done. Love sitting along the window when it's cold and sunny. I wish they had more comfy chairs and more outlets to plug in.

This neighborhood cafe is located in a shopping center at the corner of Plymouth and Nixon, with plenty of free parking and across the street from Kroger's. The space used to be occupied by the Flim Flam Restaurant, and the new owner has done a nice job with brand new tasteful decor. I have eaten lunch there several times now and the food is pretty decent. I also had dinner there once, although the dinner menu is still just the same lunch items listed on the chalk board: sandwiches, soups, small salad bar, and baked goods.

The best part of Song Bird is the ambiance, with free wifi, and a quiet space to have a conversation, read or do your work. Every time I was there, many tables were occupied by students and other patrons doing work on their laptops. Even when a friend and I lingered for almost three hours over lunch, there were people at some tables who had been there for a longer time.

The only drawback is that I found the food prices a little on the high side; otherwise I would probably go more often. Still, it is so nice to have a non-chain local eatery within walking distance of my home, and I really do hope that this little gem can survive and thrive.
