We have purchased several varieties of breads from the deli/restaurant downtown, but this was our first visit to the bakehouse store. There is a large window you can observe (and they give tours) workers preparing dough, rolling biscuits and other goodies. A very nice worker came up to me and explained what they were doing and what the product was and the whole process and explained the tours to me. They put out many, many varieties of bread (and bagels, pastries etc.) at just about every hour their business is open, or so it seems! They were quite busy during our visit.
They had samples of a bread they only make a few times a year, and this day was one of them. They told me it has been requested they make it more often. It is called Macedonian Black Bread and let me tell you, it is awesome!
Ultimately, we chose the French Baguette and a loaf of Farmer's Bread. The French Baguette is good; the Farmer's Bread is excellent. They sliced it for us and it was warm when we got some out of the bag, after going to our car. Heavenly! Every time we open the kitchen cabinet, the wonderful smells come blasting out...lol.
Nice display case; very friendly employees. Fair prices. Highly recommend!
There is a picnic area a few steps away, along with restrooms. Lots of parking.
