This area of Ann Arbor has been in need of a nice locally-owned place to gather with friends for high-quality food at reasonable prices. The US-23 and Washtenaw Avenue area has a couple other sitdown restaurants, but one is a chain, and the other is considerably more expensive. Other than those, the remaining places fall into the serve-yourself fast food or bakery style places.
The Village Pub has very nice decor, a comfortable atmostphere, a few big screen TVs to allow us to keep our eye on the game (but it is not a sports bar), and very good bar food. The meat for burgers, sliders, sandwiches, and nachos comes Knight's. The hamburger buns are excellent and their origin is apparently a closely-guarded secret. I've been there several times since it opened in December, 2011, and the service has always been just right.
To sum up: Excellent food, nice atmosphere, great service, and conveniently located.
