This restaurant has fantastic, locally brewed beers and fresh, wood oven baked pizzas with very unusual ingredients. The atmosphere is dark, friendly, pub like. Great casual fair for the discriminating beer and pizza lover.

Calling Jolly Pumpkin simply a BrewPub would be a dis-service. While the menu is full of sandwiches, pizzas, appetizers and such, you won't be disappointed with anything that you order. Basic items like burgers and chicken sandwiches are delightful and have wonderful variations that will please hard core foodies. Simply put, the food is fantastic. Jolly Pumpkin beers are on the sour side (Belgian or farm house ale styles dominate the seasonal offerings) but that is by design.

Went here with family while visiting U of Mich. The food quality was good, but I can't say that I liked the atmosphere with deafening noise levels upstairs and down. They have a lot of beers and wine - good selection and the menu is interesting too. Waitress service was good too. But I really dislike the huge portions they serve. Not one person at our table was able to finish what they ordered and plenty of left overs (maybe you like that). I ordered a Porchetta sandwich but I did not think the roasted pork had good flavor at all, and there was too much mayo on the sandwich. The fries were excellent. Others had steak salad - quite good, and the large burger which was satisfying. Pizzas were under-cooked and not crisp, not worth it in my (expert pizza) opinion. Overall, this is what you might expect for an upscale college bar in a college town.

Visited this place with my son, and we shared the mediterranean pizza. He had the Pumpkin Whoopie Pie for dessert.
I was offered several samples and selected the Weizen Bam Bière.
